I currently have a 6c12t Xeon 1650 @4.6GHz

Wanting to get an 8 core but prices are ridiculous on 6900k.

PM'd ya on a 5820k, but honestly I don't think you're going to see much difference from what you have. 4.6ghz is a nice clock and it's hard to find a X99 chip that will clock better.

I had this on an MSI x99 board prior to it's current asrock so I know it works with those as long as you have it reasonably up to date on BIOS's

Well I bought the board new $150 with a $50 rebate so I figured I would sell it..... Now I have that itch.

I almost wonder if an 8700k would be better for my gaming needs with a 300 series board.

I will just stick with what I have for now as DDR4 memory prices have put a stopper in my plans.
