WX9100 Power mods - help w/ powerplay tables

Careful that mini-display port is extremely fragile. I thought I had artifacting but is was actually the dp cable needed a little support
You need a 90 degree cable

Sheesh it's already hot as hell in my office/lab with all these cards folding I bet it's already 90 degrees :D

Nah its 98 degrees lmao

If any of y'all figure out how to make VR headsets actually work on this thing that would be amazing. I don't like being restricted to my old quest 1 with this headset

I've never used vr so I have no idea. Can you not just connect the headset to a second gpu but run the game on the MI25?
Before I got my mini dp-hdmi adapter I ran my monitor off my GTX 1050 and used the MI25 for running the games.

Alright so I spent all week folding on the MI25 flashed to the WX9100. It's great, especially when tuned to like 100W.

But now my next question. Is it possible to flash this thing to a Vega Frontier and push the video through my 5600G igpu?

there is something which is holding this WX9100 back..
i experimented with mine and i think that because VRM temperature is not available GPU is throttling even that it is not needed
what i think is that we need to somehow flash bios from VEGA NANO which have the same VRM configuration

using pptables from other cards have minimal impact best way to increase score is to underclock it as much as possible

also if you set pptables like this:

it will have little better performance but no undervolt actually happen

also it will be nice to flash Radeon Pro SSG vbios which should be also compatible but with higher TDP and still working DP output

Try a different bios, vrm sensors work fine on mine using this bios: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/217771/217771

I found that increasing the freq in the lower power states and then setting an appropriate power limit to keep it in those lower power states seems to help a bit but I haven't done any back to back tests yet.

I have a spare Vega 56 Nano which I can do full experiments with no care if it blows-up as card has a small fault. But I need to complete lapping heatsink project first before I can do any risky experiments. Flashing hardware is easy as I use external programmer.

Thank you this bios is able to show vrm temp. I will try to do more testing tonight this card seems fun.

edit: ok so with this vbios i been able to use pptables for clock setup and sapphire trix for offset and maximum power (voltage with pptables does not work). With this combination on base cooler with 8cm fan i was able to run timespy @ 7 481

What drivers and what version of TriXX? I wasn't able to get any software to control power limit or voltage other than a crapshoot w/ ppt editing.

I went ahead and flashed the latest vbios @DR4G00N posted, already. Haven't tried messing w/ PPTables again, yet; but, am very interested in what TriXX offers in its interface.

edit:
Trixx 6.8 on 23.4.1 using DR4G00N's vBIOS is working flawlessly!
I thought I'd 'tuned' my card best I could. Nope, between you 2, I'm already performing better, and it's 'taking' my PPTs now too.
Thank you both!

Another ghetto mod pic lol

Update:

NimeZ custom drivers will detect a Radeon PRO-modded MI25 as a Vega 64 Series card, and will restore Wattman compatibility.
In doing so, custom-set PPTs (using OverdriveN) *actually* work as expected, in addition to being able to control P-States, Voltages, Fanspeed, etc. in Wattman (Radeon Software "Performance->Tuning").

Thanks to @Zyll Goliat for the suggestion.

Note: My MI25-WX9100 was not stable on the NimeZ drivers *until* I used OverdriveN to set more-MI25-like voltage/clock states.

Working (not fully optimized) PPT for my card.

It's only the 3rd time I've moved my PC and 7th or 8th 'connect/disconnect' cycle, already my mDP is feeling loosy-goosy. I think I'll go ahead and order some 90-degree adapters, rather than the short-straight Dell mDP-DP I'm using @TM.

Yeah that works great so far on mine. Just had to load a custom ppt and it unlocked full clock & voltage controls in the control panel.
Undervolt is actually working, quickly tried at 1600 @ 1100mV just to check.

Fan curve works too which is great because the WX fan profile sees the gpu at just 40C and returns the fan back to idle after a few mins of use. :shadedshu:

Thanks I'll have to play around with that. Can power limit be increased over 50% like with the vega table mods?

Yup these cables today without thread lugs are abysmal (especially hdmi)

Not sure how I never saw this reply lol

If the main monitor is run off of the MI25, flatscreen games ofc work fine, however, VR games will run off whatever gpu the headset is hooked up to. If I flip it around, it gives me a "VR headset must be connected to the same gpu as the main monitor error" (which doesnt occur if the MI25 is being used by the main monitor??)
I cant seem to find a way to have the VR run off the first gpu if the headset is plugged into the second one

also how did you go about using the MI25 to run games? did you have to change the setting in windows graphics settings for each and every app?

I'm not sure, it just used it by default usually even when plugged into the 1050. I believe there was also a flag for steam games that let you select which gpu to use but I can't remember what it was.

latest drivers allow WX9100 to be controlled via watman with all voltages and everything :)
Does MSI Afterburner and the like work also? I'm using the Nimez 23.7.2 drivers atm for oc'ing but I'd rather use AMD's if possible.

What's the driver number exactly? Latest drivers wont even let me use wattman on my RX6600
I'm using 23.4.2, Amernime Zone Radeon Software on my 16GB Vega. I did not have wattman ability on any official driver.
