X1900 Series Overclocking and Feedback thread

SerJ, ur opty and my sandiego are the same cores, its a fact, no arguing, period, you take off the IHS off our cpus and u'll find two idendical cores. AMD just slapped on a IHS on your opty saying itsn an opteron, and a SanDiego 3700 on mine, why choose which IHS goes on which core? because your opty can oc better, making it a better core. Doesn't that sound logic? I wouldnt sell a core with a higher potential for the same money as the slower one.
Alright I get your point, I just don't want this thread to be about this argument, let's get back to X1900XT/XTX Experiences & Successful OC'ing

So Im thinking I maybe able to squeeze out 13,300+/- on 3d05. I know my Card will handle more voltage, currently its running at 1.5 Volts and in Oblivion doesn't get above 45C. I think I can also push my Opteron 165 a little higher. My DFI has about peaked though. Running 311FSB right now.

That is deffinitly a nice score. I want to know want kind of power supply you are using, I want to get a different one for my self.

Can we get this into STICKY position??

Yeah, how do we go about that?

Stickied, lol.

cool we are sticky'd now. Thanks! :)

Wow march 2005. Almost forgot about that post. Well that card is no longer in my system. However it is in my HTPC now, and not running anywhere near the specs I mentioned. Since its on air cooling and all and doesn't need to be running super OC'd. I will see about getting a screen shot off it. I think its hitting like 5800 3dMark05.

somewhere back in this thread u might have answered this already but..

but clue me in.. my stock cooled 1900xtx on the ccc overdrive reads 89c after five minutes of grassy/forest oblivion

it reads 46c in 2D ilde.. how do u achieve 45c under full load.. ????

trog

ps.. edit.. have read back further.. decent water cooling.. kinda tempts me u buy a danger den water block for my 1900 and use the twin rad water cooling system components i have still in a box doing bugger all.. he he he

Hi there!

As probably many of us asked this question, but what you think is the best non liquid cooler for a x1900xt@xtx? I know Accelero X2 is not pushing out the hot air from the case, but still performs better than the stock cooler. And it is silent. Or there is something else you guys recommend to get?

if u put your hand at the back of your case and feel the heat coming out while a 1900xtx is running 3dmark 2006 with the stock cooler then imagine all that heat being pumped into the case u might not be so sure the accelero is a "better" cooler..

my approach was a new case with better overall cooling.. he he he

i thought my near silent artic cooled x850 xt pe card based system was too good to be true.. sadly the 1900xtx has proved me correct.. he he

having gone to trouble to get a near silent air cooled system only to have it all buggered up by a new grafx card has kinda pissed me off slightly..

Well yes... The heat would stay in the case. I have a Gigabyte 3DAurora. The 2 120mm fan at the back should take out some heat, I ordered a custom plexi side that has a 120mm fan mount on it. It may help a bit to. I know that water cooling wold be better.

i just wish artic hadnt gone the BTX compatible route and had produced a x850 type exhaust out the back type cooler that didnt need extra case fans to shift the grafx card heat..

their we dont need to do it cos a BTX style case gets rid of the heat is rubbish in my oppinion..

Oh the X1900 is a serious heater. Before I added it to my water-cooling loop I ran it on air for a couple of weeks to make sure everything was running well. I have really good case air flow and even then I saw my temps push above 70C. Which to me was amazing. It runs sooooo hot.

It runs so hot that after adding it to my water-cooling it raised the entire system by 7C. My CPU was running (OC'd w 1.55volts) @ 37C, add in the X1900 OC'd and im sitting at 44-45C on my CPU. Under load, like Oblivion Gates outdoors and the GPU is sitting around 49-50C. Need For Speed Most Wanted a little lower @ 46C.

The thing is a beast. If you run 2 of these in Crossfire on water you are going to need to get a Bigger radiator, triple core, or 4 Fans on a dual core (2 Push, 2 pull).

hi everybody!!!!!

i tried to install thermalright v1 ultra cooler on my x1900xt and the results where very good. i install it with two funs too, that it´s an extra for temperatures.

but it has a problem. 3 of the rams can´t use the pasive heatsinks because they are blocked under the big tool (heatsink) of the gpu.

somebody know how to fix this???? i can try this::::

1º the package comes with some grey thermal pads to put on the top of the memories. this pads will touch the mail heatsink and get cooler with the extra fun.

2º in the 3 rams, 2 are kind of outside of the big heatsink and one just under it. so bend 2 of the pasive memories heatsinks to right and left, and maybe the center one just cut it to the maximum and put arctic silver 5 on the top for just to touch the main heatsink and get cool from there.

i already purchase it and i know it can give great results, that´s why i want to try.

thank you!!!!

i just bought the his x1900xtx iceq3. tomorrow i got it.

are all the x1900xtx iceq3 Turbo versions???

do they have to use special drivers from his??? if not, catalyst or omega 6.5??

thank you!!!!

well, i have it here.

i´m a bit disappointed with the his x1900xtx iceq3. it´s not bad, but i expected more from it.

the maximum overclock stable i can get is---

core at 1´5v---------- 711mhz----temperature-----76ºC load

memory at 2´140v----- 850mhz----temperature-----51ºC load

the memories are good and i´m happy with it, but from the core i expected at least 730mhz......

i´m using the atitool and atitraytool.

are the temperatures ok for only play games????

I hate to be a bearer of bad news but the only way to successfully deal with the gpu heat problem is with water cooling. A Maze4 from danger den is one of the better options.

You will need:
-either a dual or tri radiator GTs (HWLABS) are nice and not expensive, the PA series are (thermochill) are very expensive for roughly a few C difference.
-distilled/deonized water
-3/8 or 1/2 inch tubing
-D5 or DDC pump (which is smaller and more compact)
-CPU WB like Apogee or Storm, etc

Cases
You will need either a tall full case or a short wide case.
Armor
Lain Li 2000
Tia Chi
UFO from mountain mods
etc

Example of a water cooled x1900xtx with a fan on the vregs. Vregs have MC14s on them

MC14s everywhere, where it stops I don't care te he he

Side note, they fell off so I went with the bandaids on the stock HS and they work just fine when oc the mem te he

Your card is almost Identical to mine including RAM/Voltage Reg heatsinks and Waterblock (cept i use a Swiftech). I did use artic silver apoxy to place mine though, this was after months of running with the sticky tape. I was able to push the Ram a lot further with the apoxy. I even went as far as lapping the mc14's. Maybe not needed but I think it must have helped.

show some pics and temp reports..

Hy guys.

My Sapphire x1900Xt arrived today, but i have few questions. I flashed the bios to toxic xtx (with win flash), but after reboot, everest e all 3d marks shows x1900xt, and clocks are the same. What the problem?:banghead:

Thankz

PS. Sorry for my english :D

I don't think you can use any bios you want. Be thankful that the worst was nothing at all. There are worst horror stories then this.

PSU with enough amps for overclocked x1900's

I have one x1900xtx and when overclocked it draws 18.4amps according to ati tool, I want to move to a crossfire setup theu will be using another x1900 crossfire master and I'm looking for a PSU that will deliver enough amps to power boths cards

so far I've found

PC power and cooling 1kw crossfire 36amp 12v line
Tagan 900w 40amp 12v line

It sounds silly I know I don't need the watts that both of these claim to deliver but I do need solid amps on both lines

What do you recommend?

other options?

First hand account would be best, because all the reviews I can find state both are great...yada yada
cheers,

a.
