X264 or NVENC for Streaming When Playing at 4K?

Since I play games at 4k and max settings, will it be better to use X264 or NVENC for streaming seeing how 4k is way more GPU bound with a Ryzen 3700x and a GTX 1080 Ti? Also what kind of resolution can I get away with for the stream, because I would love to stream in at least 1440 if possible.

I would shoot for something more realistic like 720p or 1080p @ 60fps to stream, especially if its games, this is also heavily dependent on your internet connection/speed. NVENC looks great when streamed at a high bit rate X264 looks good too @ faster and lower presets. I would mess around with both and see what works best in your situation.

I ran a dedicated streaming PC for Twitch streams. Using NDI I would play on my main PC, capture the stream thru Ethernet and stream out on a dedicated 2700x PC doing all the x264 (slow encoding) @ 1080p @60fps- 6000k bit-rate or 10k if using youtube. CPU usage was around 40%.

I have really good internet so that shouldn't be a problem, and I feel like 720p is just way too low nowadays, so what would be some good settings for 1080p then?

You're internet isn't what you should be concerned about.
