X800 confusion? Would like some advice

Use macro on your core images, that is not clear enough.

Macro is the picture of the flower on your camera. Hold the camera very still and the item in good light that isn't glaring off the core.

Judging by the fuses (if I remember correctly) you have an unlockable card. I would let dolf "the master" let you know for sure first though.

camera phone is all I have, that's why i typed what it said. The gold dot in the corner is there, with no cuts of any kind around it.

Sorry for the double post, have'nt got used to it not " auto merging " like a EOCF.

Here you are 3 moded BIOSes:

1. X80016P.bin - your "original" moded to 16 pipes
2. X80016OC.bin - your "original" moded to 16 pipes and with overclocked core / memory to 450/450MHz
3. X800GTO.bin - your "original" moded to 16 pipes and with overclocked core / memory to 450/450MHz with different Device ID (will be recognized like X800GTO - in fact your BIOS describes it like GTO)

The first 2 BIOSes will recognize the card like X800XT with R423 (no benefit in this).

Use atiflash in DOS mode with the following command line:

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 biosname.bin

Start with just unlocking to 16 pipes. Test the max overclock with some program with 16 unlocked pipes. Then if your core / memory can handle at minimum 460/460MHz flash one of the OC BIOSes ;)

Success and don't forget to inform us what will happen.

Weird parallels -- I have the exact same issue: I have an AGP X800XT card with an R423 core (using a Rialto chip), looks EXACTLY like the pics posted by Metalsoft (IDENTICAL). Only difference is that my card is running at 445 Core / 445 Memory, which are NOT X800XT speeds. I've pushed the clocks up using ATITool to test for max mem / max core, and I can hit 500/500 pretty easily (haven't done any long-term testing, but seems solid for 10-15 minutes, and seems solid in 3DMark03, etc.). Weird that the card is an X800XT but the speeds are VERY low (not as low as Metalsoft's, but not XT speeds).

Strange world, eh?

I wonder if the Rialto chip has something to do with why the clocks are lower.

The small difference in scroes might just mean it is being limited somewhere, with a bottleneck. If it's an R423, which is the PCIe chip, then it might be the Rialto chip that's making a bottleneck.

Just a small update. The bios that dolf made for me did work. It unlocked 16pp.

Sadly the heat it created caused a problem with the card.

It was idling fine, tested it for about 3 days. Then over the weekend I played fear for about 2 hrs. While i was playing, the screen froze and the sound got stuck in a loop ( very annoying ), I reset the computer, and itposted funny. Long beep then short, I could hear it booting, because the floppy drive kicked in, and I heard the sound kick on while loading into windows.

But no screen, monitor just sat there asleep. So i booted again, and did a blind flash of the card back to original bios, ( not really hard to do, just pay attention to what you type. ) . It came back on went into loading windows, and flickered. That's the last time it came on. I have TRIED everything. It is dead.

But never fear.

I went to the egg, and ordered the HIS X1650gt 512mb GDDR3 core 560 mem 1.36ghz.
Now this is a badass card.

But it did work. Kind of. I think is was the card, as Dolf is the man, and he did a great job.

Thanks Dolf.

( and don't worry, I just RMA'ed the card and got my money back. I was only 2 weeks old at the time )
