I bougt my Gigabyte X800XL SilentPipe few weeks ago and I'm not very happy with it since I get some strange white colored lines in every game.

Here's a sample

http://www.impatrik.com/vit1.JPG

These lines appear in every game, in some its not much but in others its really annoying. I've had an X800PRO before and I did'nt have these issues with it.

Of course, I've tryed different drivers but without success removing these lines.

What should I do, why do these lines appear and what are they ?

AMD 64 3200+
2x Kingmax Superram 512
Gigabyte X800XL SilentPipe

Not overclocked anything, and everything is installed properly as im not a beginner. Temperatures are CPU: 28/35 idle/load, Casetemp: 28, Graphics: 45/73 idle/load ( celcius )
The graphics temp was way over 90C in games, but i changed my case fans so it got to 80C then tighted the heatsink screws just alittle and its not 73C in games.

Here are some more screenshots

I think these artifacts appears because of too high temperatures. Run some demanding benchmark and than open AtiTool and scan for artifacts.
If there are no artifacts in ATITool try to tweak textures settings. Try to turn on Alternate pixel centers or turn on Vertical synchronization.
If these dont work try to turn on/off texture optimalizations (Anizotropic and Trilinear filtering optimalization).

hhmmm..thats wierd

i dont know what to say, i was looking at the mobo specs and its only agp4x/8x, could check to see if it is running at 8x and check your agp voltage, which i can see is ajustable in the bios..do you have your cpu overclocked?

No nothing is overclocked. The mobo is running AGP 4/8 on Auto which is default. But I could never find where to change the 128/256MB in the bios :O

Ive tryed every possible setting in DoD Source. And no changes.

This must be set in Control Panle or Catalyst Control Center, not in game.

And have you scaned for artifacts?

Yeah scanned for 8 mins without any artifacts.

EDIT: Changed some settings in control panel but no difference. In DoD: Source these white lines are'nt allways there, they come later. But in GTA they're allways there

Contacted the reseller where i bought the card from and they said, if they find out its broken i can choose another card for the same price. but if its not broken they'll send it to Gigabyte and repair or send me a new one. And i dont want a new one of the same, since it gets 80-90C in games which will reduce the card life and itll sooner or later broke. Now those lines, is it possible the card is broken ?

where did you buy it?

where did you buy it?I always buy my cards from future shop or another major retailer, that way i dont have that problem just take it back and get another card( no hassels).even if i have to pay an extra few bucks its worth it.you want to cantact ati and see what they say, there also might be another bios for that card that will fix the problem.

Dont buy floppy, its pointless. Use flashdisc (USB stick) or CD for booting and flashing. Its much better, faster and more reliable than floppy.

The easyest way how to create bootable flashdisc is to use some program like HP Windows Format Utility for USB Drive Key or DiskOnKey. Try to search with Google. Works with all flashdisc.
