Watch out for XFX's ZDFC model (your first link), as XFX has redesigned it with a non-reference PCB (minus the digital Volterra VRMs) and a (cheaper) heatsink/fan unit. You lose software voltage control and the decent reference blower fan heatsink/fan unit.

That being said, you can get yourself the cheapest stock clocked reference PCB HD4890 you can find. Just flash it with your current card's BIOS, and you're all set.

Do any OC'ing yourself...
Damit i missed your post mate and just read it... unfortunately I ended up getting a ZDFC gpu but i really cant complain about its cooling.... yes it has a smaller hs but it coolies quite a bit better... so my question.... can i take the bios from the old gpu and flash it to the new gpu?

:respect: My fav. is the s15 though.

yeah, they have that for many cars nowadays, but to make 1000hp, you need tons of money, starting by the turbos and fuel system :D

As far as your GPU's, I'm not sure if you can flash dude :(
Yeah, a Skyline WILL NOT make 1000HP on stock bits. You even have to replace the rods and pistons to accomplish it.

I want an R34 so bad tho. My true dream car.

As far as Sylvias/240's, I like S13 Htachbacks with S15 front ends. My dream daily driver is that, with a complete R34 driveline stuffed under it, AWD and all. Talk about a super sleeper. :D

:respect::respect: that conbination of s13 w/ s15 fron end is sick! to make 100hp, you need a nice little GT42R or a pair of twin 35R's or something. Gotta love the sound of a inline six though, music to my ears!

Well I sent my 4890 back to XFX for rma... they got it last Thursday late afternoon and I got home today and checked my e-mail. I had a few msg's from XFX and the last msg was saying a new gpu was sent out yesterday :D
I got the S/N from the tech and he said they sent out an ATI reference design card out to me... ver 1.1  God I cant wait to test it out and stomp my vantage and mark06 scores:p
I knew something wasn't right when I added the 2nd gpu and cross fired it....I asked the tech what was wrong with it and he said that it was sent to the engineers and they didn't say what the problem was..... they said when it goes to the engineers it means something wasn't right during the build.... I hope they put a MASS recall on the HD-489A-ZDFC ver 5.2 gpu's and replace them all with proper working 4890's.... hell I guess all the screen shots of 3dmark06, Vantage, and Furmark showing the comparison of the ATI reference gpu design to the non reference paid off!

I bought a HD-489A-ZDEC model after i returned the regular 4890 because of a high pitch noise. This new XT version was a lot quieter than the regular version but was getting errors on stock clocks when i ran OCCT program. RMA it, now i'm waiting on xfx to see what's going on with the card.

my ZDF7 has a high pitched noise in 3d mode and talked to the tech's.... they said its normal on some gpu's due to the amount of power running through the card.... As long as its performing well they said dont worry about it... I only hear it when the side is off the case but it's hardly noticeable.... ;).... Im not worried about it since we have a life time warrenty :toast: Plus this gpu kicks azz mate...I wouldnt be using OCCT bro.... its not the best program out there.... try using mark06 , Vantage....or Furmark.... heck i even like using ATI tool to test 3D mode.... OCCT stresses shit way to much and I hear it's not to be trusted....that's one program I removed off my HD and will never be re-installed :nutkick:

I tried ATI tool too, It found errors in the first seconds of 3d testing. I tried the find max option and it down clock it self to 700mhz core because of errors.... I was like WTF:banghead:

Sure will...

but remember you cant go wrong with their life time warranty :rockout:

That's one of the reason I went with XFX. My experience with tech support was #$%^&... Whole different story though...
