Hello Everyone,

CARD: XFX DD 7970 FX-797A TD FX-797A-TDJ V2.0

I'm not going to hide it, I'm trying to mine with this card. The best I can do right now is 570 kh/s, with some overclocking and the stock BIOS.

I tried flashing this BIOS: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/127156/gigabytehd7970-3072-120905.html

But it did not work.

The memory types are compatible, but I'm not sure about the VRM.

I read about a guy who flash this exact BIOS on a V1 card and got it to work. I'm not sure what the differences are but it is preventing me from enjoying more hashes!

I found that remounting my 7850 DD's cooler with new thermal paste got me drastically cooler temps, might help you overclock more. I got up to 1280 core or so before thermal problems while benchmarking whereas before was around 1200.

Make sure to email XFX and ask permission to remove the heatsink because they will void warranty if you don't ask first. Just tell them it seems to run hot at stock clock and you want to try running a high end non conductive thermal paste. Worked for me.
