Hi everyone,
It's been a year or so since i started using HD 5450 1gd3 from XFX. Recently i've noticed games are lagging (old game obviously) too much which were smooth & lag free before on my same pc. So i checked the specs through gpu-Z n found the memory clock stuck at 533Mhz which should be around1200+ Mhz. I've tried a lot of things like clean swipe of driver n reinstall again, tried with new OS set up.

As the card is fairly old now, legacy drivers may give the best result.
I have read of newer drivers resulting in less FPS in old cards.

Thanks for your reply.
But how it could be right if the default memory clock is 1066Mhz+ ? Almost half of the memory clock speed suddenly stopped working !!! is it ok really?

Currently using the V13 driver. Even tried with backdated one but didn't work. Can you tell me which driver should be used with HD5450 ?

533 X 2 = 1066

533 is the reading 1066 is what the "effective" clock is, double the 533 :) DDR 5 is quad pumped so a 1250 reading in GPU Z would show as 5000mhz effective speeds

That bandwidth of 8.5GB/sec seems right for a 1066MHz RAM and a 64bit data bus, so the RAM works as it should, something that others also posted.

Unfortunately cards with so low bandwidth can't do much.
In case you decide to buy a newer card, don't buy anything with less than 25-40GB/sec or you will be throwing away your money.

I know it's a pretty old card which doesn't have any value in terms of gaming. I'm just wondering for what weird reason gpu memory clock got slowed down. If the default clock is that then i wouldn't have anything to think but thats not. Previously this same gpu had worked @ 1066Mhz+ then why suddenly 533Mhz! And again i searched a lot but didn't find any 5450@lower memory clock than 800Mhz. Do you have any reference of slower version of 5450?
[ attached image = even a 512MB HD5450 has 900Mhz memory clock (not mine though) ]

Ok i admit with your point. But just tell why Gpu Z showed the same Gpu memory speed 1066Mhz before? And now suddenly 533Mhz!! For this reason old games lag too much which wasn't happened before.
[ Attached image = Red marked circle showing the memory clock is 533 for both gpu & default. But this same value was 1066 before (unfortunately i don't have those previous screen shot of Gpu Z) ]

yep gpu-z readings look right for that card. dont think anything is wrong except its out dated.my advice is save up a little and upgrade a few gens the performance increase will be worth it and you can play most games depending on the rest of the setup
I just dont understand why all people suggesting me to upgrade instead of finding the main reason. I already have a g1 970 on my other pc. I'm just wondering for what weird reason a gpu memory clock got slowed down. If by default the memory clock is 533Mhz then i wouldn't have anything to think but thats not. Almost no reading are working on the sensors tab, your drivers might be corrupted in a way or another and they're outdated (2014), I'd suggest you to start by reinstalling them and while you're at it might be good to get the latest drivers.

It doesn't have to do with old. Go and buy a GT 730, relatively new compared to that HD 5450, with DDR3 running at speeds close to 1200MHz and 64bit data bus. It will look almost as slow as your card. AVOID cards with low bandwidth memory.

What probably happened is that you have used another program in the past to see the specs of your card and that program was reporting the DDR3 effective speed which is twice the MHz. My GT 620 comes with 1200MHz(effective) DDR3 memory and a 64bit data bus. The bandwidth is low, as it is in your card's case and GPUZ reports 600MHz, not 1200MHz. Something else happened that made your card look slower in those old games.
