XFX R9 290 games have low texture quality...

I'm getting an R9 290X on Monday and hope to God that this does not happen to me too =(

Have you tried contacting AMD customer support? Maybe be worth it if nothing we suggest fixes it.

Damn, I'm dumb...Thank you.

EDIT - Did not correct the problem...
If you're within a return period send it back. Things like this can happen with hardware.

That should be a problem of AMD. AMD is so suck to make a better driver and make their website better. When I was reviewing ares2, it is really hard for me to find a correct driver. I just search it and it showed me 3 exactly the same names of one driver! But the sizes are 2m, 167m, and 300m. I don't know what the problems are. Maybe translate problems? Because the website is so suck in translate to Chinese. We can't understand it in Chinese even.

Maybe best to do a driver sweep. You might try a driver sweep removing all files from CCC and see if that helps because this problem sounds like a stuck configuration. Honestly mine 290X's are not having this issue so its not a driver bug unless its specific to the 290.

At this point though the only things I can think causing this would either be a clean install of everything after that. I cannot imagine this being a hardware problem mostly because I don't see what could happen on the card to cause this problem.

Try a different video card and see if same problem happens, if it does it might be card related- return it for a new one if warranty allows.

is there anything that was installed uninstalled on the day this happened? Have you considered a system restore? It does seem very unlikely (though not impossible) to be hardware. I'd expect artifacts, crashes to desktop, overheating, bsod, etc if it were hardware. Doesn't necessarily rule out card bios though, but that's easy to check. Just flip the switch on the card and see if the other bios behaves the same or not. If it behaves differently I'd go find the original bios for the card (uber or regular) and flash it. If it behaves the same its likely something with windows that a system restore might fix.

Mine not having any bugs

Yeah that's why I am confused. Nothing new was changed/installed, it just broke my dx9 games all of a sudden lol. I finally have time now to do a system restore. Cross your fingers people!

Do you have access to any other PC you can test the card on?

Wow I never thought of that!....That is the first thing I do when I get a new video card you fool.

Take a look at this...Are we clear now? This is at max settings..

You have positive LOD in that pic.
You want 0 or negative LOD.
Since you're so smart..I'll tell you you need to download SetLod and use it :)

used driver sweeper recently?

i personally still think 13.9 is the best dx9 driver amd have done. the 14.x have given nice gains to dx11 and mantel but no love for the older games :(

I think 13.9 is the best, too.

I don't use driver sweeper..
I delete the AMD folder then uninstall from device manager..
tick the "delete drivers" box.

OMG! I did change LOD settings the day before with Radeon Pro! But even if I reset them/exit Radeon Pro it doesn't fix it. I tried using "QuickLOD" and that doesn't work either. My backup is corrupted apparently, so a fresh windows install is in the works.

FIXED....it was the LOD, got Radeon Pro to reset it...

this was very helpful thank you i will dig into my games and see if I have a similar issue.

Ya-hoo! Glad you got it worked out Larry!
