The XFX Radeon RX 7600 XT Quick 309 stands out with its exceptional cooling solution, ranking as the best among those tested today. This triple-slot design ensures optimal temperatures and noise levels simultaneously. Priced at $350, the card is a bit more expensive than the MSRP.

This actually a bit surprising. Much more of a bump performance-wise than I have expected from just the specs. It’s still not a GOOD card mind you and the premium isn’t worth it (neither are 16 gigs of VRAM), but it IS not just 2-3% faster as I was expecting. Guess the Navi 33 was that limited by power in the base 7600, huh?

Don’t know about the price/perf but it’s a very sober design. I like it.

While price bump is not as bad(compared to "4060 Ti") still overall not worth spending extra for double the RAM of base 7600.

Why are there games where the performance improvement exceeds 50%, vram or software? I can only think that it was a mistake for the 7600 not to have at least 10GB from the beginning.

In any case, it doesn't reach the performance of the 6700XT and costs more. So, it doesn't make any sense...

Interesting indeed. It seems whatever AMD do they get a 12-15% increase in performance for every refresh. The 6900XT to 6950XT and 6700XT to 6750Xt were pretty much the exact same bump in performance. I want to see what distributors do with this. It could have good portends for consumers by breaking the current price structure.

Probably just drivers. In all those cases other 8 gig cards don’t show any abnormalities, so I would assume something was massively improved between the last retest of the 7600 and now.
Or maybe the Navi 33 is just THAT power starved in the 7600 and this is what it’s ACTUALLY capable of, but that would be highly unusual.

Discussed in the conclusion
Ah, I did not notice that while reading. So the regular 7600 saw no improvement with the press driver at all? Was this Ratchet only or across several titles? Because it’s really quite outstanding that a 150-200Mhz bump is elevating the XT this much. I don’t remember when was the last time we saw something like that. Might be that the 7600 really was at a wrong point in the efficiency curve for the silicon that’s used.

Yes, I specifically re-tested Ratchet on 7600 non-XT because its results seemed so low, especially when compared to other 8 GB cards

really was at a wrong point in the efficiency curve for the silicon that’s used.
Look at power, too, not only perf

Okay... Yeah, the efficiency seems to be drastically worse. Not terrible, mind, but worse. Now I am even more confused. Guess this means that RDNA3 just takes to power and/or increases better than what we expect usually? Because this definitely is not the case with Ada.

Pretty good review, you just forgot to update the features page with new FMF and current Hypr-RX informations. Interesting find with Ratchet and Clank / generally good summary page.

Hi @W1zzard , thanks for the reviews!
"XFX wants $350 for the Steel Legend, a $30 increase over the MSRP"
Typo, $20 (same in Asrock)
Is it disclosable when the review embargo for 8700G/8600G/8500G lifts and are you planning to have a little more in depth IGP review section than usual?

I haven't heard anything about sampling for these CPUs

Anandtech reports 31/01/24 availability regarding DIY retail channel and i was hoping for a TPU review the same day or a day before (if there was a sampling). Are you planning to buy any of them independently and post a review?

Not before that date, I have like 10 more graphics cards to review this month

Intel's Gen 2 ARC lineup can't come soon enough. I'd love to see them double down on the VRAM imagine a 32GB GPU that doesn't cost a whole lot more than the A770, but with a bit better compute and improved efficiency with heaps more capacity which 16GB was already pretty ambitious, but Intel has a wide memory bus so I don't see why they can't potentially tack on 32GB and let it flex for certain scenario's and tasks.

They do now, because otherwise performance would be even worse. Everybody want to reduce bus as much as possible because it costs a lot of $$

This is what it says on the website of the video card:

XFX Dual BIOS Ready

"We know enthusiast like options, so for our QICK 308 RX 7600 series graphics cards we are offering dual BIOS.
Giving a backup BIOS in the case of a failed BIOS update."

Then, because of this, the two BIOSes are the same. This is just a security BIOS, not a quiet and powerful mode.
