LOL, it's correct alright. Just looked up my billing history. Our rates are pretty expensive down here, and seems to be about average to my friends and co-workers as well. I've got one friend who averages over $200 in summer, and over $100 in winter.

I forgot to add, I do have a server running 24/7, but that only consumes 110w; 123 when streaming movies.

EDIT: I keep the house at 72 in the summer, and 68 in winter, so the system works pretty hard, especially in summer when we average over 90 deg F from April to October, with some of the highest humidity in the country.

for some reason i was thinking about daily use instead of monthly use!

Ohhhh, ok! Yeah, I don't think I could manage enough use to use that much per day! LOL, I should have specified that was the monthly total. My fault for creating confusion.

While living in Washington, it should be at max $20/month, including monitors. Does that sound right?

Seems like a lot.

An easy way to figure is that 1W 24-7 costs ~$1/yr. That's exact if electric is 11.4 cents, so adjust by your rate. Since you are spending $240/yr that means 240x11.4/9cents= 304W 24-7. My computer and monitor draw <80W typically, and <200W under max load.

Do you want to babysit a couple of my folding rigs :) They only draws around 400 W each. I'm on a steady 60 kWh/day @ US$ 0.3 so around $18/day. I refuse to calculate what that is in a year :)

Do you get paid for that?

Babysitting, or folding?

Babysitting generally requires a child or baby for pay. Folding has no pay whatsoever.

In my world baby sitting is something that you do out off the good of your heart to help people that you care for. I know that my folding rigs (for which I earn $0/year) and the free electricity at a US military facility does not qualify for normal baby sitting BUT it takes some TLC to run my rigs and since the out come is not for me but for all (folding@home.com) I thought that the combination was good. Jokes aside I fold and pay what it cost (kWh is the least).

Well, for my last several billing cycles, I used the following amount of power:
Dec: 654kW/hr
Nov: 735kW/hr
Oct: 732kW/hr
Sept: 663kW/hr
Aug: 979kW/hr
July: 822kW/hr
June: 680kW/hr

You can clearly see when we use air conditioners, but generally speaking my apartment consumes a lot of power. The cooking stove, oven (both, we have a double oven), washing machine, dryer, and the Plasma all consume a large amount of power and the Plasma is on most of the day between my wife and my daughter.

In the dead of winter (right now) I pay about ~0.20 USD per kW/hr between producer costs and transmission costs (15 cents and 5 cents respectively?) Either way, the last bill was about 130 USD and that's a very normal power bill and tends to be consistent over the course of the year. However normally 115 is more realistic. Prices goes up in the winter because of the demand put on natural gas and the simple fact that demand for power goes up in the winter. So demand + higher fuel costs drive prices up in the winter.

I should add my gateway consumes something like 160 watts all the time and that's always on. More recently I ditched my OC and turned on every bit of power savings. Did it help? Not really. You get more benefit from power saving settings, even when your overclocking.
its actually Kw-h
i.e. kilowattxhour.

i get around 100-150kWh for my PC alone.
