Hey gang,

So I am builind a new rig and moving the power supply I got less than 2 years ago over. However I noticed something. There is an 8 pin (blue) and an 4 pin (pink).

So, is it possible that the pwer supply does not have the proper cables or fit to make this work? I hope this was not a small detail I missed when planning and was common, but not SUPER common knowledge.

Here is the PSU. No 4 pin anywhere

you missed it. IT says "4+4 pin CPU", that connector splits into two.

Then you'd also need the 8-pin plug as well. Not all PSUs offer both.

The 4-PIN connector on the board is not required IIRC.

So not required? So would it help to try and get a cable? I was reading on an another thread somethat that it 'helps with overclocking'. but I am a tad confused.

What it does is spread out the load on both the board and the PSU, so if either would be pushed near limits, then it might help.

Truth be told, for most 24-7 OCs, it doesn't matter. Under LN2, then it might help. Yet because the platform here has such low power draw, there is not much here that would limit you other than the CPU itself and your memory anyway (well, other than what settings you use in BIOS :p).

I think I have this board. I have many Z270 boards though. :p

EDIT: yes, I do have this board. It's great without the 4-pin, have no worries!
