At this year's CeBIT PowerColor is the first manufacturer to show a custom designed Eyefinity card. Their HD 5770 Eyefinity 5, yes Eyefinity 5, not six, lets you connect up to five displays in Eyefinity mode. In order to accomodate that many outputs, the card will use DisplayPort connectivity, just like AMD's HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 card. The number five, is due to only five available TMDS links on the HD 5770 (Juniper) whereas the Cypress ASIC has six links.

One possible use case could be playing games on four 1920x1200 screens and watch your favourite HD porn on the fifth 1920x1200 display. In case you find an exciting scene, just pause the game and enjoy the movie on four big screens - using the bezel adjust feature in Catalyst Control Center 10.2 this will be without any unwanted distortions.

is this card actually strong enough to push 5 monitors at least to the refresh rates?
by xaira (10:43 PM) - Reply
only 5, so i cant push 6 monitors like the big boys?

Actually, seems great for 5 monitors in portrait mode. It's the Eyefinity6 cards that allow for 5-way Eyefinity + 24/7 porn playlist monitor (ideally 42"+).

simultaneously. Your clan's TS/Ventrilo server just got a whole lot more interesting to listen to. (Thank you W1z for being an admin with a sense of humor.)

w1zz i think you mean, watch pron on all 5 monitors :P but this should be useful where you realy need many monitor support like in a mall or some movie studio

Nice! How ever I see this less of a gaming card more just for driving 5 monitors for cheap. Potentially great card for amateur video editors etc that have a few screens.

I'm definitely keen on these 'little' 5770s from PowerColour. In theory my VF1000 should fit one of these buggers but I just don't know. :/ I don't really need a DisplayPort based monitor but it won't stop me lookins. :D

Having got a 5770 now, I'm pissed off they don't have standard mounting holes, your GPU cooler may not work unless you can change mounting hole positions like on the small zalman gpu coolers.

Apparently (according to members over at Overclock.net) the 5770 uses the same mounts as the 4K series (albeit not the 4870X2) one member who has both a VF1000 & a stock 5770 said he would try but I'm waiting for clarification on that.

Okay brb, I'm going to take stock cooler off to make sure I'm not getting some weird perspective trick making the holes look 5 mm closer apart then 4series card mount holes. *edit* I wasn't tripping balls the mounting holes on 5770 are closer together : / useless Maybe the rev2 design has normal mounting holes, I've got a batman cooler. Anyone wanna trade? lol

er, that is a double height card with the cooler. Why didnt they offer this as 5x HDMI, or 4x DVI + DP. That would be much more interesting. 5x DP means (for most people) 5 new monitors. With THAT kind of budget, you wont be buying only a 5770.

because its not possible. displayport has less requirements than DVI/HDMI/VGA, so its easier to implement multiple outputs.
