Kingston Technology, Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced it is shipping the HyperX fan in black. The new black fan is identical in performance and specifications to the blue-colored HyperX fan released in June 2009.

The dual 60mm fans optimize airflow around the modules helping memory run at peak performance for longer periods of time. The black HyperX Fan is made of anodized aluminum and when turned on, the blades are illuminated by eight small blue LEDs. Power use is minimal and noise is not an issue as the fan runs at a whisper-quiet 25 dBA.

The black HyperX fan (Kingston part #: KHX-FAN-B) ships as a stand-alone product and has an MSRP (U.S.) of $23.00. It is backed by a one-year warranty and free 24/7 technical support.

Looks good, I like the chromey-sort-of effect.
Very nice.

Sorry 25dB is noisy. All those ram coolers are noisy. If you're going for a memory benchmark record they're ok but otherwise not worth it.

I've never had a problem with noisy memory coolers, though they've never been the loudest part of my rig.

Exactly. At 25dB sound is an issue.

25dB is not noisy.

140 threshold of pain: gunshot, siren at 100 feet
135 jet take off, amplified music
120 chain saw, jack hammer, snowmobile
100 tractor, farm equipment, power saw
90 OSHA limit - hearing damage if excessive exposure to noise levels above 90 dB
85 inside acoustically insulated tractor cab
75 average radio, vacuum cleaner
60 normal conversation
45 rustling leaves, soft music
30 whisper
15 threshold of hearing

Every fan I've had rated at 25dB is noisy, whiney or otherwise annoying.

My RAM sticks don't even have heatspreaders, they're just bare; they're rated for 1.5v and I'm using 1.6v with no issues. These fans are for extreme overclocking only I think.

Heck with proper airflow really shouldnt need this. I do like it though.

Ya they are noisy but I dunno, I don't wanna kill my expensive Hypers. A ram fan surely can't hurt...

Pass until the fans come in red.
