EVGA Announces Trio of GeForce GTX 580 Graphics Cards

EVGA announced a full-fledged lineup of GeForce GTX 580 graphics cards today, consisting of an NVIDIA reference clock speed version (part number: 015-P3-1580-AR), which also serves as the base model, priced at US $499.99. This is followed by a factory-overclocked version that bears the "SuperClocked" marker (part number: 015-P3-1582-AR), carrying slightly higher clock speeds, but sticking to NVIDIA reference board and cooler design. This one is priced at $519.99. The king of the hill is the FTW Hydro Copper 2 variant, which sports top clock speeds, supported by EVGA's iconic Hydro Copper water-block (part number: 015-P3-1589-AR).

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 is based on a new 40 nm GF110 core, it packs 512 CUDA cores, and 1536 MB of GDDR5 memory over a 384-bit memory interface. Its reference clock speeds are 772/1544/4008 MHz (core/CUDA core/memory, GDDR5 effective). For EVGA's SuperClocked variant it's upped to 797/1594/4050 MHz, and for the FTW Hydro Copper 2 Edition it's all the way up at 850/1700/4196 MHz.

That FTW Hydro Copper 2 Edition is going to make some rich folding farmer a very happy chappy with it's single slotted goodness.

Tell me where they live and I will buy shares in the local power company.

saikamaldossit would be better to say fastest DX9 card in the world. its only fast in games which was optimized for Nvidia and on DirectX9.

But in all DX11 games, its still 5970 that wins even with 8x AA :)

Even Nvidia,s Pet site says that lol

And since we have already seen that 6870 is on power with 5870. 6970 should be better than 580 :)

Speaking of truth, it should actually be quoted to be the fastest ever Single-GPU card out there. Also NVIDIA has always significantly scaled better with multiple card setups. Wonder if this time round they'll venture into Dual-GPU card land...

The new hydro-copper version looks nice, but I also really liked the GTX480 version it looked so industrial.

ATI fan boys thread crapping is getting old, and especially if the same was done on an announcement of an ATI card they would have a fit, so the logical conclusion, liking AMD is a mental disorder. And as such can't cope with AMD being second best.

Wile EYeah, that's way too much. $625? Sure. $700? No so much.
Well, some would make the argument, of the price is worth not having to put the block on yourself, and not breaking your warranty, but given EVGA's warranty covers the card even when the heat sink is changed, it's less of an argument.

Granted to most a 75 dollar premium for not having to place the block yourself is way to much and not worth it, but I can see the value to some.

I just find it unacceptable because the premium hasn't been quite that steep in the past.

Hmm, Aussie dollar is bad then. But I don't have uber amounts of money, but I still don't care when it comes to having the best, value for money = stupid otherwise, possibly. But for me I still don't care. The best single GPU card technology does it for me, and scaling with 2 cards is simply brilliant, count me in :-D

Well you would still have to buy a block in order to make a vanilla card into a water cooled card . . . so um no it's not, considering a block will be 100-150 dollars.

I understand that, but that's not the point I'm getting at. This same exact niche did not charge this high of a premium, even in just the last gen. They are charging a higher premium for the WC than they have in years.
