Eugene Kaspersky Wins V3's Technology Hero of 2012 Award

Kaspersky Lab's CEO and co-founder, Eugene Kaspersky, has been voted Technology Hero of the Year in the third annual V3 technology awards. This is considered a massive achievement due to the award being presented to no other than the late Apple CEO, Steve Jobs in 2011.
Voted for by V3 readers, this prestigious award recognises Eugene's huge impact on the security industry over the past 15 years since Kaspersky Lab was founded. From Flame to Madi, inspiring leader Eugene has been at the fore-front of all of the company's ground-breaking malware discoveries and offered his expert advice to businesses and consumers alike.

"Our malware discoveries are dedicated to making the online world a safer place, so it's great to see the appreciation by winning this award", explains Eugene Kaspersky. "Being recognised as Technology Hero of the Year is an amazing achievement for not just myself, but Kaspersky Lab as a company due to the time and commitment spent on fighting cybercrime both before it occurs and during."

Eugene fought off competition from the likes of Marco Ahtisaari, Head of Design at Nokia and Simon Stanford, VP Telecommunications and Networks at Samsung UK and Ireland, who were also shortlisted for the award.

Kaspersky Lab also scooped the highly sought after Best Mobile Management Software award for its universal security solution, Kaspersky ONE. In this category, the company went head to head with solutions from Research In Motion and SAP. The company was also shortlisted for Best Business Security Provider and Technology Innovator of the Year.
The award ceremony took place on Friday 30th November at Le Meridien Hotel, Picadilly, London.

That is a very stupid comment

Because of the owner of the company? what a retarded comment, software should be appreciated on the ability of what it's capable of doing.

That is why I use ESET SC

IMO Kaspersky is leagues ahead of ESET. but each to their own. I like using kaspersky cuz i like layout and the plethora of options it gives you as well as its smaller hog on resources compared to other security/anti-virus software packages that are out there.

Ive had loads of friends and family pick up a lot of viruses, and other crap on their system while using Norton, but I switched from that in 2005 and I have never been put in a situation where my computer was so infected and compromised by viruses and trojans that I have had no choice but to completely nuke the hard drive with a fresh install of windows.

I have convinced many friends and family to switch from the likes of Trend Micro, ESET, Norton, Zonealarm and other security packages to Kaspersky and they couldnt be happier though the amount of options and settings that are available to them are a little confusing but ones setup correctly there is no reason to touch them.

Not really. In many cases I buy 3 user licenses for less then 3 norton licenses. you just gotta know where to get it from.

You wont believe this but I never tried karspersky in my life. Seems its time to try it, I'm more an avira/ms security essential user.

So congrats to karspersky labs and Eugene for his achievement

I don't run with AV either. But on the rare occasion that I do need it, I use Kaspersky.

Kaspersky is really good, but you need to know what you are doing. This antivirus isn't for noobs. There are tons of settings that you can configure.

If you are a noob or want to install and forget, I recommend NOD32.

Kasperski is not over priced. It $15 at Amazon for the 3 license AV. And no one can touch them

And if you own 2012 it will upgrade to 13 for free as long as your license is good
