Crysis 3 to Ship with High-Resolution Textures

Unlike Crysis 2, which felt rushed in due to the lack of DirectX 11 support and mediocre-looking textures at higher display resolutions, Crysis 3 will come with every feature PC enthusiasts can feed their hardware with, including high-resolution textures. PC Gamer discovered that the retail version of Crysis 3 Advanced Graphics Options menu includes a texture-resolution setting, something the very first version of Crysis 2 lacked, and was made available after a 2-odd gigabyte high-res texture pack add-on was installed. Given its post-apocalyptic urban/tropical setting, we expect the game to have generally high texture variety, especially to make objects such as foliage, natural outgrowth, and destroyed buildings, not to mention worn out urban elements, to look organic.

I wonder what happened to all the aliens in Crysis.. in Crysis 2 everything was different, I was hoping to see the cool Aliens from the first game, and Warhead.. Warhead was good.

when i play crysis 2 i can't accept that the game was the sequel for the first 2 crysis game lol. to be honest i can still accept it if they want to totally reboot the series rather than make it into the sequel to the original crysis. btw there are comic explaining what really happen after the event of the first crysis.

ThunderStormIt's not a step backwards for profit though. If the environment in crysis 3 is virtually completely destructible and the graphics style is still the same, I highly doubt that current or even next-gen high-end cards can endure the torture.
Riiiiight, like it was in Crysis 2 ? Oh wait, it was completely static apart from few scripted scenes where buildings collapsed. Thats not "full destruction".

Crysis 2 story was meh. Crysis 2 gameplay was meh. Crysis 2 graphics was meh. From what I have seen Crysis 3 looks much better, but after Crysis 2, I don't think I'll jump on it; maybe wait to pick it up for cheap in a few months after release.

You misunderstood me, clearly. the graphics of Crysis 2 is meh, but when you put DX 11 feature and the "regular" HD texture and the physical implication of crysis 1 which is physX, the game is more demanding. Crysis 3 is developed after a testing procedure done by Crytek which was the implementation of their engine on console. Ergo, Crysis 3 is more like PC-ish than Crysis 2, imo. Then you throw in the PhysX, Crysis 3 would be like a step forward like Crysis 1 all over again, but if only the physX is applied like Dent1 said.

Crysis 1 was never compatible with Physx. Crysis 1's engine just had spectacular physics to begin with.

You see an object it can break, shatter, explode. You could drive a car into a hut and watch it tumble over.

And I wasnt just talking about Physics, unlike Crysis 2 and probably 3, you could jump into a boat and sail as far as the eye could see to another part of the island or find a jeep and drive to the otherside of the jungle. You could shoot creatures, birds, chicken, insects.

And you could pick up dozens of frogs and throw them at unsuspecting enemies while in stealth and hear their screams! :>

You actually liked the story of crysis 2? You prefered crysis 2's world to crysis 1's?

I can be a bit of a graphics whore at times but with everything on max, crysis 2 was not as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

FrickI'm still not sure how they butchered the story in the second game. I enojyed it as much as the first game (which isn't a lot, but still some).
You"re kidding right? Second one was one of the worst game i have ever played...As a story and gameplay I mean.

The story wasn't that bad. I missed the palm trees at the beginning but the gameplay made up for it.
I don't get why so many people criticize this game; to each his own.

I criticize crysis 2 for the same reason I criticize highlander 2. They both took the story line, took it in an unexpected poor direction. It has been awhile since I played crysis 2 but I remember I was upset with how they used prophet in crysis 2 for some reason.
