ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini Smiles for the Camera

We got our first glimpse of ASUS' mini ITX-friendly GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini a fortnight ago, when it was pictured installed. The older pictures didn't really provide us with a vanity of the card, until now. Pictured below, is the first press-shot of the 17 cm-long high-end graphics card. The picture reveals a swanky cooler shroud with gloss/matte accents, covering the main heatsink.

The main heatsink appears to be a combination of an aluminum base plate covering the memory chip and VRM, a copper vapor-chamber plate over the GPU, and a radially-projecting aluminum fin array. The contraption is ventilated by a fan unlike anything we've ever seen. Its impeller appears to be a hybrid between conventional top-flow fan, and lateral-flow blower. While ASUS won't tinker with the 6.00 GHz memory clock speed, the core is said to be clocked about 26 MHz higher than reference. Display outputs check out as dual DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The company is expected to launch this card some time in April.

Asus must have done their homework with that fan but you'd think it'd cause some form of turbulence.

That fan design, I like it, a lot. That's a nice combo between catching heat and dissipating it.
Now i'll just have to wait until i get my hands on one.

That card is so damn cute!

They would look so damn funny in Tri SLI (assuming that is possible - I can't see how many SLI "fingers" the card has but I assume it is the same as the stock 670).

Turbine combined with regular fan, may works better.

Saw the picture and thought it was another 650ti or something like that. Then read GTX670...:eek: It's like a super hot-hatchback car(A1 Quattro comes to mind).

Great idea, I think Asus might have something. Fan is innovative you’d think Asus worked on the balance a bunch, because in the enclosures you put this in dBa/CFM is mission critical. Too bad more of the air couldn't be rear exhaust, I would forego the dual DVI to achieve that. Wonder if they got a patent on that fan? Nice they left both SLI fingers but, I doubt a ITX mobo has more than one PCI-E, while it might defeat the quietness you crave in SFF chassis build. To move the volume of air required, as not too often will such pint-sized enclosure include 120mm fan(s) positions, while then there’s the 700W PSU to consider. I think it would be a challenge to tame, but it would be fun trying.

it uses double fan, so i really wanna see a head to head comparison on overclock-ability between these short 670 and their struggle to battle fan with that small form factor :)

Its not entirely reference, they ditched the 2x6-pin power connectors for a single 8-pin, which allowed them to shorten the PCB ever so slightly.
