Radeon R9 290X Battlefield 4 Edition Graphics Cards Up for Pre-order

Online retailers are beginning to take pre-orders for AMD's Radeon R9 290X Battlefield 4 Edition bundle, which combines an R9 290X graphics card, with a Battlefield 4 Premium copy, which gives you access to not just the game, but its entire trunk of expansion packs. The bundle is sold directly by AMD, and doesn't bear any AIB partner markings. Swedish retailer Webhallen.com listed the bundle for 7,299 SEK (including all applicable taxes and shipping), which roughly converts to US $1,145. The store page also mentions that it will begin shipping the pre-orders on the 11th of October, 2013. Based on the 28 nm "Hawaii" silicon, the Radeon R9 290X features 2,816 GCN stream processors, 176 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and a 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory. It features full support for DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3, and Mantle.

Nah, this is usually the e-tailer jacking up price on new products as usual. ;)

Keep in mind that the sales tax in Sweden is also 25%...
That still makes it $860...

The price of Titan on that site is 8490 SEK ~ 1333 USD, of course R9 290X is cheaper. A new card at the same performance point with a lower price than an old card:toast:

Not to mention that this BF4 version is limited to 8000 samples, and comes with BF4 + premium membership. The BF4 + premium membership costs 140$ on Origin store fyi.

Do the math and I think the vanilla version will strike at 699$ price point.

That 800 - 1000 spread on core frequency is a bit of a head scratcher. If the card is going to boost, you'd think that it would just hit the upper limit on a regular basis.

Wonder if this a dual BIOS thing. 800 base/900 boost on BIOS #1 and 900base/1000 boost on BIOS #2
mrwizard200no pricing yet wtf
True faith requires no pricing. Just ask the people signing up for the BF4 edition

Expensive.

Hawaii is as hot as a volcano right now but if this price is confirmed I think it will be an equivalent to the “cold fusion” device Spock detonates in the last Star Trek.

In the UK the GTX 780 can be bought for ~£450 not including the subsequent price reductions that will come when the new AMD cards drop.

Zotac GTX 780 3GB GDDR5 6008 MHz Dual-DVI DisplayP...

Unless AMD release this card at a maximum of £400 I'm going to just buy a GTX 780 when the price drops.

You call a card with Titan's performance, 20% lower price and bundled with BF4 + BF4 premium membership, expensive????:confused:

Titan is overpriced by about 30% when looking at price to performance ratio, making that AMD card expensive, not taking into account the BF4 extras as I dont know what this membership thing really is. Im not bothered about it being bundled as I would rather buy the game separatly for ~£30

Sweclockers reported the preorder had been cancelled. Hadn't known that until I read the source article. If we don't see other places offering the package, the Sweclockers article may well be right and this company is not going to ship the cards for the 15th.
Frankly, if we all look hard at this release, something seems very wrong.

Yes. Forget Titan's price. It is overpriced for a desktop card.
The problem here is that you also have GTX780, you have many people expecting $600-$650 and you also have a huge gap between $300 and whatever the new price will be.

Premium membership means you will have all the expansion later. The game is 80$, and the premium costs 60$ more. Of course if you don't really into BF4, why bothering with an BF4 special edition
Also, you will have to pay higher price if you want to be one in the first 8000 owners. Like I pointed out above, the standard version can't be higher than 700$
A side note that 7990 is <699$ now, and AMD has a tradition to place a new flagship at the price lower than the dual card of lower flagship (just like 7970 vs 6990)

I agree, the strangest GPU release I have seen since being into PC gaming, I dont understand the Pre-ordering and announcement of all cards without any specs and limited pricing info.

People will buy regardless......

......seems about right for Amd.... considering their past launches. Huge hyper, lots of mystery and almost as good as a (fill in the blank) performance. Seriously though people..... don't expect it to be too cheap. Slightly cheaper yes....got to hand it to their marketing department though. This would work for no other vendor.

Cant take any notice of that price. As has been said, some retailers will add a premium on top for the early adopters who want to be first with the card and don't care how much they pay.

Doesn't really tell us anything.

Not sure how people can read it and think other wise.

Lets see they are offering you a method to reserve your spot for the limited 8000 and if your unhappy with the pricing when its revealed they will refund your money.

How dare they!!!!

I'll ignore your subtext amongst other leanings you have. When did i say it was not a placeholder? My post simply says:

which is a statement decrying the fact there is no final price listed to pay. Regardless that you are paying for a place in a queue for a known limited number of bundles. You still ought to know the price as the thing you are queuing for is something you wish to buy.
Maybe where you live you like to blindly walk in and put deposits down on stuff you know nothing about but hey, each to their own.
