ASUS Announces Strix Pro Gaming Headset
ASUS today announced its new Strix brand and Strix Pro, a multi-platform gaming headset engineered with powerful 60mm neodymium-magnet drivers, full-size hexagonal ear cushions (130mm across at the widest point) and technology that filters our over 90% of environmental noise. Strix Pro is compatible with PCs, Macs, PlayStation 4 consoles and many smartphones and tablets.
Taken from the ancient Roman and Greek word for owl, Strix is the brand name for the stunning new ASUS gaming-gear series. IMHO, there is a reason 40mm is prevalent. Below that can have a great natural sound but lacking the deeper register and persistance, while 50mm is certainly generally better at encompassing the low-end, you really start to lose the upper end on most headphones (that don't cost a fortune) at that size. This is probably even worse...like a 15'' sub strapped to your head with no tweets.
Still waiting on someone that masters a dsp and incorporates something to the effect of small, medium, and large drivers within a headphone. Whomever cracks the ideal range per driver, crams them all in, separates the frequencies accordingly (and hopefully somehow makes them affordable) will really crack the scene imho.
