AMD Outs Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta Drivers

AMD rolled out its second beta-marked Catalyst drivers, since its late-September Catalyst 14.9 WHQL, Catalyst 14.9.2 beta. The driver enables AMD Mantle API support for Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth, the month's biggest PC game launch. The release doesn't include any other notable changes. Grab the driver for Windows 8.1, Windows 7, and Windows Vista, from the links below.

Hmm, I probably will not grab this update yet just because I did not plan on picking that game up yet. Though I have kicked around getting the game.

Installed these yesterday and windows 7 would not load beyond the logo.

Fix was I had to F8 and enable last known config that worked to get it to boot.

Ever since 14.9 came out, I've been experiencing random black screens immediatelly followed by complete system lockup. It got worse with the following betas, so I went back to 14.4 :( This is the first time Catalyst is giving me any sort of problems in like 10 years.

Yes! This! I didn't know what was suddenly causing it. Spent hours underclocking this and disabling that to try and identify the culprit.

I haven't experienced those issues as some on 14.9 but I see no reason to bother with these. Next time around

Just to clarify, it's not the infamous black screen when idle, as in, it's not related to system going to sleep or what exactly the condition is. In my case, it would happen out of the blue when working on the PC. Screen suddenly turns black as I am typing, mouse and keyboard don't work; Winamp still plays music, but the entire system is otherwise locked up and unresponsive. All I can do is reset.

That's like asking whether there's anyone who likes to beat his balls with a hammer. I guess there are some people out there who are not right in the head, but they are a rarity.

Not had any problems with the 14.9 release yet but I am on the 14.9.1 at the moment as I did not see a reason to get 14.9.2 until I got the new Civ. I might try it to see if it gives my cards any problems...
