Windows 10 Attains RTM Status

Microsoft's ambitious next-generation operating system, Windows 10, has attained RTM (release to market) status. This marks the official end of product development, and the beginning of its distribution. Windows 10 RTM (build 10240) is that version which will be transmitted to PC OEM partners (to pre-install on their new notebooks and desktops), physical media manufacturers, and to the team handling GWX (Get Windows 10), the tool that upgrades existing eligible Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 installations to their applicable variants of the new OS. Microsoft will officially launch Windows 10 on 29th July, 2015.

Better hurry up and get it RTM, you already announced availability by end of month. (Can hear senior leadership already "Hurry up, it's good enough!!! What's not fixed will likely not be exploited before we can patch it in the production stream post go-live, I got a bonus to worry about...... That's what SP's are for!"

Meanwhile, PM's going bananas to get their vacation time scheduled starting July 31st.

Is it just a coincidence that the build number is exactly 10240 -> 10*2^10?

Half life confirmed?

10240 0's cancel out, 4 -2 = 2 + left over 1 = 3???

It's almost as exciting as the time when Windows 7 came out. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. I bought myself a 7-meat mini burger at White Castle to celebrate. Good times good times.

Take the ESD from the update and turn into iso using ESD decryptor.

Already fixing broken stuff from the update... as usually creative stuff broke, and now razer stuff too :D

The funny thing... there are many new drivers... intel RSTe, ASMEDIA USB3, and... intel LAN 20.2.40 claiming to fix my exact latency issue... 82579V.... and it still doesn't work... the stock windows drivers perform normally... I just chuckle at this desperation :D

Look, ASUS put up windows 10 too in OS drop down list.

watermark is gone in this build, also windows activation is activated for Win 10 PRO (not preview). So it looks like insiders can get in on the action right now as I already have the option to stop receiving builds :D

I can also confirm that when you select to stop receiving builds if you were an insider previously it will stay activated you are not promted for a Key.

I'm glad it's RTM, I can finally stop redoing CRU to get a refresh rate of 72hz for my monitor. Gets annoying having to redo it each build :p

I've been on the fast update stream all along, but my new ASRock Z97 M-ITX board just took a dump on me. Not sure when I'll replace it.

I've got the build update in my VM, but I'll probably wait a week or two to upgrade my actual machines. However I'm still quite excited, especially with the security enhancements. For anyone who's running Windows 10, download and run Process Explorer. Look at how literally every single process but the System ones (Idle, Interrupt, etc) all have ASLR enabled. Even wininit and crss use ASLR by default. In fact, there's not a single native process that doesn't have such memory protections running.

I wonder what else they've enhanced and hardened in the process?

I want to, but Newegg charged me a restocking fee that made replacing the board with something decent a chore.
They're processing the return now, but I may not see the money (what's left of it) until next week. I have a friend with a Z87 board that I'll be able to afford, but I wanted another Z97.

Here is a great deal on the ASUS MAXIMUS VI IMPACT LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard , www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-132-039
I found. $180 after rebate and still has the m.2 multi card.
