Oh come on man! But yes, I was reading this last night at midnight. I've set a date reminder on my phone and I will buy one. Yes, its a totally idiotic use of money but my own selfish indulgences will mean my Classy's finding new homes for the price of postage. So before anyone criticises me for spending stupid money on a product I won't use properly, you can swivel on my backhanded generosity. For shits and giggles I'll be attempting to buy the top one. Lol.
Fwiw, I figure the higher asic cards 'should' operate at lower voltages so on air or water, I might have some leeway.

He isn't the only one - although I'm guessing unless you're using sub-zero cooling the gains over the standard Classified might be minimal - in which case, the latter at $700 seems more appealing.

And looking at how much binning they are doing the normal classified might actually end up with some crappy chips without much headroom

this is one of reason why new stuff looks very hot and emptying my wallet sooner than before

The higher the asic percentage the higher are their clocks with air and water. The problem with Maxwell II it's the gpu voltage, seekingpin's explanation:
Honestly speaking, I think most end users don't even realize how maxwell gpus are voltage capped at ambient type cooling. I can tell by many of the comments at OC.net, elsewhere, and also here in these card XOC bios threads. Especially compared to kepler. KP 780ti scaled great on voltage with air/water temps. Basically, more voltage = more clocks no matter what temperature.
With 980 and later gpus including titanX, the scaling on air/water has all but almost gone. I would say about 95% of all maxwell 980,titan-X, and 980ti gpus NO MATTER what vga brand pcb it is on, DO NOT SCALE with more voltage than 1.25v-1.275v at temps warmer than 25c or so. There is no magical bios that can effectively remove this.

This is exactly why almost every moderate-good asic titanX, 980, and yes 980ti clock around 1550mhz MAX AVERAGE at say 45-60C loading temps.
If you put 0c and colder on the card, you will see MUCH different behavior than what you see on air (green garbage all over screen when raising volts over 1.23-1.25vv or so)
Cards with very good ASIC value (75% and up) will tend to have the most "overclocking", but just like about every other maxwell gpu, they cannot overvolt past 1.23v-1.25v.
So highest asic cards like 80% +are almost always going to be the ones that can 1600+ on air/water, and again they do it pretty much WITHOUT overvolting over 1.23v-1.25v. Maxwell gpus with lower asic value like 65% will not be so great at air/water because these low asic gpus need voltage to scale compared to match the overclock of the high asic gpus( USING SAME USABLE VOLTAGE 1.23-1.25v)

The bios's I posted basically allow you to set a higher voltage on air/water. Some gpus can scale more, some cant, some actually will NEED more voltage than was previously needed to run same frequency. All different.

I don't think it's stupid at all. Most of us middle aged and up have worked hard to get to a comfortable financial position. As long as you take care of your financial obligations and save for retirement then spend some money and have some fun. We only live once.

But dumbed down chips and cut RAM is not what im out for.
If Fury X would have had 8gb ram i would have taken 4. As it is im going to get only 2.

It's your business what you spend your money on and I'm not trying to change your mind but the 'dumbed down' 980 Ti stock beats the Fury X stock by 9% to 18% overall depending on resolution except at 4K where they run neck and neck.

Meh, at the price point of these cards I find I would rather buy the regular classified card. I love the idea of these cards, just not the tag associated with them. Heck if I was really going to spend 1K on a card, I would probably get the Titan over this one because even with all this I doubt the overclocks (Unless your into LN2 which is more where these are aimed anyways) are going to be that much better.

Love these chips in general, would not mind a trio of the classifieds myself (Or lightning's depending).

Welcome back. Yeah, 600 Amps is overkill but it's better to have too much than not enough. The 980 Ti K|NGP|N is more than I need or want but I just placed an order for a MSI 980 Ti Gaming. Can't wait to get it in my rig and test it out. :)
