Steam servers are down due to a power outage

There is currently a major power outage in the Seattle/Bellevue area, exactly where Valve's Steam is hosted. Unfortunately, there is no guess as to when the power will come back on. Steam will work hard to restore the power as soon as the storm that is currently battering the area dies down a bit. Basically, if you can't connect to Steam, it is not your fault.

infraredIf i see one more post about stealing games from steam or how you ripped off Microsoft, you will be banned.
nobody said anything about ripping off Microsoft or stealing games. I paid for both very much in full. Simply saying their means of copy protection is ridiculous, and its because of the people that don't pay, and it only effects the people that do pay. Steam here is allowing us to download software without giving us a way to store a legal "Backup copy", you are allowed by law to backup your software, data, this includes movies, and music also, as long as you personally have purchased it. I want windows on a machine and don't have a internet connection, I am not going to sit on the phone for 30 minutes while I wait for a customer service rep to pick up and give me an activation code.

No offense, but if you consider this stealing software, when I did pay for it, then go ahead and ban me, because that will show me that I'm on the wrong boards, and need to find a good board with moderators that have world knowledge and wont stand for the bullshit some of these companies do.

I enjoy these boards, it's nice being able to help people out, and it's nice seeing and talking to some nice pretty knowledgeable people.

You don't need to wait 30 minutes, it takes like 1 minute. Just enter your code with the automated service...

Heh, they have an automated service, the first 2 times I tried to call it in I got sent to a waiting line.... Needless to say I gave up.

I just want to say I'm not a person that supports stealing software by all means. It causes the issues like the ones we all deal with now. But at the same time I refuse to let it control my computer, and what I can or can not do with it.

No I understand the word perfectly, I just don't really see how it fits in the situation.
