A PC that fits into your wall

Computers are getting gradually smaller and smaller, but this is a nice piece of engineering. Featuring a CPU with the equivalent of up to 1.2GHz worth of power, 64MB of flash memory and 128MB of RAM, this isn’t a computing powerhouse but it is quite impressive. Made by Chip PC, and named the Jack PC, this little computer will fit comfortably into your standard network socket. It won’t be any good for graphics either, with only 8MB of video memory, but it does have four USB ports, stereo sound, a 24-bit colour output and runs on Windows CE (similar to the Windows that runs on PDAs and smartphones). It only consumes 5W of power at full load and can run via power over Ethernet or an external supply. Priced at £349 for the top model or £209 for the lowest spec, this could be useful in tight space areas where only office applications and the internet are needed.Source: Our-picks.com

Pretty cool idea. Would want to know: what operating system could run it, what office applications are less than 64mb, how to network internet with usb I/O. Sweet idea, sure to see more of this as office/media/home entertainment merge. Imagine your gaming rig/office desktop/media center all in inlayed into your wall right bellow your inlayed 60" LCD TV/Monitor... oh baby the future looks bright :D

I've seen those last year if not before that... Perhaps different specs, don't remember.

Well, USB modems are an obvious answer to that, but as it works via power over ethernet it must be able to connect to a network so that's the simplest way onto the net.

I think this one is new - I haven't personally seen these before, but I'll take your word for it that they exist. I can (or I guess you can) delete this if you think it's old news.

No old news to me. I like the thing.:)
Just makes you think of what is still coming with future hardware.

looks cool....i could sell the hell out of that in the Home Theater market....but in the office enviroment, who uses USB mouse and keyboard...i know you can get adaptors (PS2 to USB) but it would look a lot cleaner if it had PS2 ports on it....

I have also seen this before, but i had completely forgot about it, so it's good to see it again, plus there is always the fact that some people wont have seen it, :)

Kinda cool, I guess you could use it for a terminal or something for another system in the house..

Yes, just use it as a dumb terminal, to link to your mega-PC-data-media-ftp-server in the cellar. All it needs is a touch sensitive TFT flatscreen, and you dont need a mouse or kb. Great for streaming music, newschannels or other monitoring activities. Ethernet attached webcam in the kids room (or parents room!) with a monitor elsewhere in the house or wan.

Ive never seen it before and am very intrigued by it. Its so cute. Id love to put some pcs in the wall, with great thermals and cooling and keep it nice and tidy. I can see the 70" LCD with MX AUDIO OR BOSE SURROUND SOUND ::DROOL::
