NVIDIA Releases WHQL Drivers for Vista

NVIDIA has released its first WHQL certified drivers for Windows Vista, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The release number is 100.65, and these drivers work with all GeForce series 6, 7 and 8 cards, offering DirectX 10 support to those with 8800 cards. DirectX 10 with SLI is still unsupported, but it's good to get beyond the beta stage of drivers. You can download them here.

I'll call it when the first DX10 games are out. Then, we'll see who has the best drivers!!

Its really impossible to test the performance of a DX10 driver if no games exist to use it. Big deal, NVidia got their DX10 drivers out first. No doubt in part due to the pending class action. I'm not worried, they were the first to get out a DX10 card also. Look where that got them :P

Good for nvidia. They were about to get reamed pretty bad. They still will get reamed, but at least now, 6 months later, they have WHQL drivers...we think.

I want to see some performance benchmark against XP 32 and 64 bit. If Vista does pose a 10% loss as MS claimed, I don't see the point of upgrading yet.

I ran 3DMark06 with x64 Vista Ultimate and 100.64 drivers on stock vga. No Windows tweaks.
You can check out the score herefor verification.
Now I will run the 100.65 and compare difference with stock vga. :)

Good News For Nvidia Users!

Nice to see that NVidia "won the race" to WHQL certification from Microsoft (vs. ATI) for NVidia users!

(Yes, I am one currently, & mostly since I left 3dFx Voodoo I/II/III/V usage when NVidia bought them out - but, I have owned an ATI 9800 XT as well not TOO long back, so this isn't 'fanboyism', it's just congratulations!)...

:)

* All that appears to remain for VISTA is to get that SLI working right?

(Thank goodness not ALL of us run SLI I suppose, so the majority of folks will be "A-OK" &* all that (or, lol, can afford it w/ out some major sacrifice no doubt)).

APK

P.S.=> I'll be waiting on folks' here like Tigger who stated they want to test in real-world gaming & such, as well as ILuvIntel tossing these new drivers @ the 3dMark synthetic test...

Expecting "MORE GOOD NEWS" here, on BOTH fronts (realworld games tests + synthetics) & all that! apk

well i tried farcry at 1280 MAXXED out and it was smooth as butter,i've played farcry a LOT on xp,and this was just as smooth and fast as on xp.2142 was on 1280x960 and too it was fine really smooth and fast.vegas was fine too,its a little gloopy on my card maxxed at 1280 tho',but i guess thats down to vegas needing a beefier card than mine.

overall i say well done nvidia, they got their thumbs outta their butts.

does this driver enable dx10 and sli on 8xxx series cards then?

I am curious on that last note myself... because, odds are, it MAY be an 'upgrade' time for me here, going to the PCI-e 8800 series by NVidia if this driverset is finally "cleaning up well" & all that!

That is, provided I just don't jump on the upcoming 8950 from NVidia later on!

:)

(Like most of you probably are? Well, I am MOST curious on VISTA & this driver, because I tend to gravitate to NVidia stuff more over time, than I do ATI (only had 1 ATI, 9800XT, decent card overall, BUT, I had great experiences on GeForce III, IV, & now the 7900 GTX OC I have now))...

* AND, today? I also tried VISTA, "hands-on" for a good bit of time today while @ BEST BUY, & LIKE IT, a LOT!

So, naturally, that said - I am curious on how this driver works out!

APK

P.S.=> Thanks for the feedback VISTA & NVidia users (specifically Tigger69 & ILuvIntel so far) on this note... apk

R.S: Vegas DOESNT work for me on 100.64..or .65

Im tempted to throw my 8800GTS into my parents computer to test out the driver. The first game I can think of that will be "DX10" is Company of Heroes in march when the patch comes out. I think that'll the best first test, at least a little one.
