Intel Cuts Prices

With the introduction of Intel's new 1333 MHz front-side bus processors lineup price cuts for existing processors were expected. That day has arrived and Intel price cuts for existing Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors are going into effect. The quad-core Core 2 Quad Q6600 price was cut in half to $266 per processor which is quite impressive while the Core 2 Quad Q6700 price was cut down to $530.

Intel's Core 2 Duo E4400 also dropped $20 to $113 to make way for the new Core 2 Duo E4500 which costs $133 and features a 200 MHz increase in clock speed. Finally the price cuts also affect quad-core Xeon UP and MP processors with Intel planning to drop the price on the Xeon X3210 to $224 this August.

OMG...they feel that AMD is struggling to remain above the water line...these cuts are like a foot pushing AMD further down.Quite lovely prices but...i´ll wait and see if AMD as a response...i´d rather prefer loose some money and help them.

I'm pretty sure when encoding dvd's or video editing those extra cores come in very handy. Thats just 2 reasons, I bet there are more :P

Crysis might object to that statement.

Back On Topic, from what I've heard the E6850 is a VERY nice overclocker... the Q6600 also clocks nicely but you need some potent cooling (think water at least) to get it stable when pushing it past the defaults.
