New Version of Spybot Released

Safer Networking has released a new version of Spybot - Search & Destroy (commonly abbreviated simply to Spybot) taking it to version 1.5. The major changes from version 1.4 include improved support for Vista, restored Windows 95 compatibility, improved browser support for Firefox and Opera and improved malware detection and removal, along with many other minor updates and additions.   • Vista manifests for assigning required rights to each application
  • Deactivated list of active ports per process for Vista (incompatible)
  • Fixed support for handle list on 64 bit systems
  • Improved disabling/enabling BHOs
  • New special error reporting for beta versions

  • Fixed memory leaks (replaced Indy with Synapse)

restored windows 95 support :wtf: who the hell uses win 95 these days lol, good to see an update tho i love spybot and use no other spyware protection

I would have liked it if they optimised it a little more for Dual Core - that would possibly speed up the scans because all the definitions have just piled up to some humungous thing (76994 Definitions In Total @ time of posting) even if i set priority to maximum - the 'blocks everything' option it still takes 10mins or so to complete.

but they have tweaked the search engine for a much higher through put so I cant really complain


it least not THAT much anyway
