Intel to Delay P45 Chipset to mid-June

Intel is delaying the launch schedule of its P45 chipset from originally in May to mid-June, DigiTimes is reporting. The delay of the chipset is due to problems over compatibility between the chipset's PCI Express x16 port and graphics cards. Intel has notified its board partners that the problem should be solved two to four weeks behind the original launch schedule, with mass availability expected soon after that. Intel will now announce the P45 chipset during Computex 2008, however, actual motherboard shipments will not begin until mid-June.

Some may criticize me, but that's good news...finally I won't have to change my motherboard every month. No change till the summer.

Intel may be winning right now but continually putting back release date will make people like myself check out the readily available rival products and right now the 790 chipsets and the AMD hybrid crossfire set up looks pretty economical right now.

I wouldn't recommend you to either. The LGA 775 is in its last few months, end of this year will be replaced by three new sockets...and Nehalem. DS3P is hearty enough.

There could be a Nehalem derivative for the LGA775 vis-à-vis Prescott that came in socket-478 and LGA-775. But the upgrade path isn't long hereon.

Yeah, but Prescott was the same for both sockets. Nehalem has a 3 Channel Integrated Memory Controller in the CPU die so it needs at least 3x240 pins only for the Memory Controller. That's why it needs a new socket and heavily modified motherboards.
