Scythe is pleased to announce the new 5.25" bay audio amplifier as the group's latest addition to its new category of audio devices. This amplifier can be used for either internal or external purposes to boost the sound quality of your PC or home theater system. Cooling, silence and power for the PC system have been targeted by many manufacturers in the market, yet the sound category has been neglected until today. This is an ideal product for anyone looking to build a high-end audio PC system, using a home audio system along with their PC, or simply looking for a better sound solution for their PC.

Whats the point if it does not support surround sound. Most people with a media center PC and hi fi sepearates have a 5.1 or bigger setup. It's a nice idea and looks like it will go down well for anyone who uses their media PC to listen to music on powerful speakers, but in order to fight the likes of an ordinary amp it's going to need to support a lot more channels and have digital connections etc.

edit

just had a look at its specs and it's not got enough power to fuel good hi fi speakers.

It has a continuous power rating of 10w x 2 and uses a Yamaha YDA138 / D-3 amplifier. These seem to be designed for the Kama-Bay speakers they released a little while back.

Not alot of power it seems. Not sure if Scythe is in touch with the audio segment of the market...

But we have to remember, some people don't need a lot of power.

Judging by the specs, lack of EQ's and stuff, this is designed for monitors for amateur musicians/mixers.

They won't be powering uber huge 7.1 hi-fi systems that "dynamically enhance sound" and "provide 3D listening experiance" they will be powering something like....

flat speakers, for those looking for a balanced mix.

Just a guess, but that's what it looks like, which is good, because PC audio is shit for recording in the mainstream-equipment region.
