Foxconn Intel P45 Quantum Force 'Avenger' Exposed

Almost a month ahead of the Intel P45 release, Foxconn has showed the Quantum Force "Avenger" motherboard based on the Intel P45 chipset that is complete and ready to please many overclockers. The overall looks of the board is not quite what you've expected it to look like. The P45 northbridge is now between the CPU and memory area, and there're plenty of red DIP switches, dual BIOS chips, 8-Phase Digital PWM and 2-Phase PWM for memory power regulation and Dual PCI-E x16 Gen. 2.0 slots that make this motherboard one of a kind. There're even measurement points above the memory slots for convenient and accurate voltage reading in case you're using multimeter. The northbridge heatpipe cooling can also be used for mounting a fan that will cool both the chipset and the memory slots. Be sure to check up on this link here for more information and pictures.

Interesting read and pictures.... Although I am not very sure that this a product to jump on and buy as it is early shown off, compared to intels p45 release....
It is nice to take a look, though, and know what to expect of the new boards....
I am also courious about all the heat generated at the top half of the board, due to the new northbridge position...

we´ll see... Anyway, new boards are all welcome!!!;)

Surely you meant Northbridge ;) But nice placement. tower cooler should cool it too much better, than when it's on the side.

The Position of the Northbridge ist quite interesting, but how would they manage to get two full blown PCI.E 2.0 slots out of the P45 and what are the DIP switches for?

BTW:
I used to have marked measurement points on my old Epox Board too, but i never used them. Shortly after this, Epox vanished :shadedshu .

my bet is the DIP switches control the PCI-E bandwidth allocation, and cranking them to 16x disables the 1x slots.

Crazy 4 TPU!!!
Why is the Northern Chipset so close to the CPU socket?. Better for cooling?. I am happy with my 680i SLI SE motherboard so far, and when i get some cash i will just spend it on a better CPU and Video card like ( like a Q6600 and maybe a 8800 GT). Then maybe later i will pick up a 780i or 790i Motherboard. I don't OC tho.:)

Closer distance means less latency. Helps overclocking as well as overall performance.

It's just like Asus's Republic of Gamers series of boards.

Oh, and btw the way. It IS better ;)

The MARS (which I have) is the Foxconn P35A with a lot of extras, much better motherboard cooling, onboard CMOS/On/Off/Reset switches, better power phases (and more of em), and most importantly, the Gladiator BIOS (a fancy way of saying "Hey look, we added enough options to blow shit up" :D)

You see, I will buy the Avenger, because I've had previous experience with both standard Foxconn, and the Quantum Force series. Standard Foxconns are good, very stable, but lacklustre when it comes to overclocking. The MARS BEGS to be overclocked :D

Apparently that chip provides Crossfire X support according to Foxconn.
