Just when you thought Mini-ITX would mean extremely compact system components for great HTPC builds, came in the limitations of integrated graphics and relatively weak processors. VIA for example, have had ITX boards for quite some time. Just that the features most essential for HTPC builds such as graphics capable of high-definition video output, processors capable of decoding them at acceptable rates lacked, and hence those older ITX solutions from VIA remained a niche solution for embedded computing or thin-clients.
Picture this: a Mini-ITX board, AM2+ socket, AMD 780G (one of the fastest integrated graphics embedded), four SATA II ports, video output as HDMI (with digital audio pass, HDCP compliant) DVI-D / D-Sub, 8-channel audio with SPDIF optical and co-axial pass, all rolled into one? Awesome, isn't it? Several sources point out that J&W Technology is planning the release of such a board next week, the MINIX-780G-SP128MB.

Depends on your use, if gaming then a 4850 and maybe a USB/Firewire TV Tuner?:p

Question about the chipset, UVD1 only allows 5.1 through HDMI right? and UVD2 on the 4xxx series does 7.1? so i would need to use the optical to have 7.1?

This board won't support the Phenom 4850 its 95 watts max. Would be ideal with a Brisbane dual core though.
this can breath new life into my Lego mod (my poor VIA Epia PD is a bit dated)

Actually you can put in a nice small camera and make it as a roaming monitoring patrol dog for your home.

As if! This is for the general consumer! Pair a 780G with a 4850e and you already have a system which is faster than most of the normal consumer-level systems lol. (I wouldnt mind one of these....actually wait, no, I WANT ONE!)
(lets hope ASUS catches onto this for their EEE Desktop reiterations :) )

IMO this is nice if you have kids:rolleyes: i prefer my desktop on my desk and not in the livingroom.its nice for LAN though or to take it with you to your friends house (especially with a 4850 in it) and have a PES08 tournament on a 40inch widescreen or larger with full hi/def.

I use a 250watt DC-DC converter inside and a AC to DC power block outside.

You could put one of these into a DESK! How cool would that be, having a desk with some ports in it and a monitor sitting there plugged into the desk, and wireless keyboard and mouse.

About time this form factor got some real muscle.
I guess there was a board or two that could support a core 2 duo and an x16 PCI-E lane, but it had terrible integrated graphics and costed like $350 for just the board.

the onboard features are massive, and an ITX board with a full 16x PCI-E slot is incredible.
The use of SO-DIMM ram is a good idea too, as it saves a lot of space.

That is a sweet ass board! The 780g chip is awesome alone.
I really want one... but it's probably going to be expensive...
