HIS has finally brought out its IceQ 4 series HD 4800 series graphics accelerator, this one uses the ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics processor and uses the fourth generation IceQ 4 dual-chamber cooling technology and continues to maintain a premium look and feel while offering higher levels of cooling performance and the usual UV-sensitive cooler. The card uses reference ATI GPU and memory clock speeds. Expreview reports that this card is already listed by Japanese sales partner Akihabara and priced at US $ 210 there.
Update:
HIS has two more models added to the IceQ 4 series: Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo (H485QT512P) comes with the core clocked at 650 MHz with 2.00 GHz and 512 MB of GDDR3 memory. Also on offer is a 1 GB variant (H485QS1GP). It uses reference ATI clock speeds. For more details, please visit the HIS IceQ series micro-site here.

i like the cooler, but it belongs on a 4870. Im not saying the 4850 wouldn't benefit, but the 4870 needs better cooling than its younger brother.
is from painted aluminium like the older generation i'm sure
the fan itself is probably the same ones in the 3870 ICEQ turbo but the heatsink area is huge with an extra heatpipe. ^___~
I like it,That cooler could be good for the 4870 like someone already said,Maybe IceQ5 ?
ICEQ Cooler is made by Arctic-Cooling Rember VGA Silencer Rev 3 for the Radeon 9700/9500?
I wonder why AC stopped releasing these coolers to the public. I'd absolutely still be purchasing these if I could. The 2 heatpipes must make these extremely efficient.
Ever since the 1950xtx's there hasnt been much reason to change the standard air cooling system on an ATi gfx card simply because once you alter the fan speed to a suitable % its more then enough to keep a steak frozen cold, well almost.
Are these coolers for people that dont change the fan speed ? Ive noticed theres heaps of people that have issues alternating the fan speed manually when the CCC or some third party software they have entrusted all these years fails to supports it. Is the 4850 cooler really pathetic compared to the 4870 ? I have a 4870 and 4870x2 and 90% fan speed on either is enough to cool the entire rig.

Woah, this is a first:

Looks like we got something first for a change :P (it's been on pccasegear for 4+ days now)
(Not to mention mine should be arriving soon, as the replacement for my dead 8800GTX :()

Added an update. IceQ + 1 GB = win.
Awesome! That's very nice, i'm sure people with higher resolutions would love to grab one of those :D
by: btarunrFreakin sweet! Im really trying to decide to get a 4850 or 4870

by: HaytchI guess my question to you would be, how loud are your fans? My experience with these coolers is that you can push them to ~85% and barely hear them. Even at 100% it's hardly noticeable.

Since most 4850s are around $150ish now I don't see this cooler justifying a $100 markup.
very nice card and gold plated in the rear.
Love the gold plated DVI connectors. I agree, the cooler is nice but its not worth the $100 markups. Not even the 1gb version would justify that.
Now, its on to the 4870 goodness of IceQ 4 represent!

It's only $33 extra here, but i'm sure our original prices are pretty bloated :p
That heatsink looks massive compared to the old IceQ3.. And yes 1gb + IceQ4 sounds awesome :D
I've had 2 different IceQ models in the past few years. You can run the fan @ 100% and barely even hear it. I put a Zalman vf-900 on my x1950pro and not only was it no quieter than the IceQ, it performed MUCH worse, giving me temps 10-15C over the IceQ, while dispersing all that heat into the case....
by: HaytchThe stock single slot cooler on the some ATi cards is just terrible. The HIS cooler is a real benefit to these cards in both noice and cooling power.

With the dual slot ATi stock coolers, they can get the job done, but they are really loud when you crank the fan speeds up much past 50%. With the HIS coolers, you can usually push the fan speed to near 100% and the fan will be inaudiable.
looks great !
by: newtekie1i totally agree with your point my 3850 goes crazy when i crank the speed over 60% i was waiting for the iceq from his but i would buy the 4870 version thanks for the info bta. :rockout:

That is one sexy card.
Maybe when income taxes come in....:(

ICEQ 3 with additional heatpipe. that would be enough for 4850/4870. too bad that is not a Turbo Version. maybe HIS learned a lesson from X1950Pro and 3870 IceQ turbo...some first revision's trouble
but then again, if it's sold at US$210 in USA, that would be too much IMHO
a standard 4850 and a decent cooling, namely zalman VF-1000LED would cost less than that.
but if those price is in my country, that would be great ;)

I am definitely not a fan of the blue... I would prefer it be red. OEMs have to remember ATI = RED.

Red and "Ice" don't quite get along well, so...
Ice adds the "cooling" USP to this product. If they had stuck to red, they probably would have had to use something like "Inferno" or "Magma" as the catch which sounds scary if better cooling (in essence better OC headroom) is what a buyer is looking for.

^doesn't that look inviting though just a PR stunt?
it's sweet but way overpriced.
