Foxconn Renaissance X58 Pictured

The final version of the Foxconn Renaissance X58 motherboard has been pictured by an XtremeSystems forum member, complete with release-grade cooling. Foxconn gives Renaissance the "Digital Life" branding. Foxconn has diversified its premium motherboard lineup into Digital Life and Quantum Force, the former for premium motherboards with features that make them great all-rounder boards, while the latter for gamers and overclockers. It is a branding scheme similar to the Ai Lifestyle and Republic of Gamers schemes ASUS uses.

One glance at the Renaissance, and you would be drawn to its peculiar-looking northbridge cooler that looks like a speaker, but it is purely cosmetic, as with the southbridge cooler that looks like a rotary knob from a hi-fi system, from an angle. These are just to make the motherboard aesthetically blend with the Digital Life branding. The motherboard features four full-length PCI-Express slots. It will support the upcoming LGA-1366 socket Core i7 processors from Intel. Apart from the SATA II ports the southbridge provides, the board also includes two SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) ports using an external Marvell controller.

OMG! Quantum computing? So THATS how Nehalem works! :laugh: Foxconn Renaissance: for when your motherboard has to look as good as your Hi-Fi. :rockout:

I think motherboard manufacturers are taking the whole "high-end" market a bit too far. "High-end all-rounder", "gamer", "overclocker".... They should also think about us car-freaks, how about some spinner rims instead of regular coolers? :p

Give me a break. What company in their right mind adds shit that is pointless? Isn't it a good business practice to try and cut the cost of production by as much as possible? And who the hell looks at their motherboard all the time, it's inside a computer case! This kind of stuff seems pointless and irritating to me. Needless to say I'm buying three.

One of the few? I'm pretty sure most people don't have one. (Or I'm probably dead wrong as usual.) Anyways, even if I had a side panel window what good would it do in this situation? Hey look at the fake nb cooler that looks like a speaker! oooooh, my ufo computer looks even more groovy! lol All I'm saying is, if they put that in there for looks only, why choose something that's not even all that cool to begin with. Put in a flux capacitor! I slipped and fell and hit my head on the toilet, and when I came to I drew this! The flux capacitor. It's what makes crysis possible...

I’ve never owned a case with a side window and I have owned a fair number of cases. IMO if it doesn’t make it go faster (and no racing stripes, side windows, neon lighting, UV and so on don’t make it go faster) its value is subjective at best.

That's possibly the ugliest cooling system I've ever seen on a motherboard. Hopefully the Quantum Force version won't have this hideous "bling", but rather a cooling system that's functional and unobtrusive. I miss the days when marketing-type people were kept far away from motherboards :(.

ack, no Floppy jack, I use floppies for low level flashing, USB keys, CDs, and even windows tend to fail more.

With a 1000+ device flash count and no bricking from USB, CD, and Windows, I have to say that it's about time! Only took 9 years for a manufacturer to listen (PC99 Spec) :) There are plenty of other boards out there for people that want/need to hang on to older technology. Manufacturers need to start putting out boards for people that have dropped floppies, IDE and PCI devices, etc.

floppies definitely need dropped. IDE could be done without now that SATA disc drives are readily available (there were only 2 on newegg when I first built my pc in dec '06). PCI however, needs to be kept until pci-e peripheral cards are priced just as cheap.

I'm sure if they took the same approach with the sb, vrms, mosfets, etc. they could get 7.1 :D
