AMD Releases Catalyst 8.11 Hotfix for X58 Platforms

AMD has released an ATI Catalyst driver hotfix, Catalyst 8.11 with Intel X58 i7 Driver, that aims to improve performance on Intel X58 platfoms with ATI graphics accelerator installed. The X58-specific optimizations would also be part of next month's Catalyst 8.12 release. The hotfix applies to all discrete graphics cards, ATI Radeon X1000 series and later. The game-specific improvements are universal (helps everyone). A concise list of improvements this hotfix brings about as listed by AMD is as follows:
  • Improves performance in various Direct3D and OpenGL applications on the X58 platform. AMD's next official ATI Catalyst release (ATI Catalyst 8.12) will include these optimizations
  • Improves performance for the DirectX 9 version of Far Cry 2 on CrossFire compatible systems
  • Improves performance for the DirectX 10 version of Far Cry 2 on both single and CrossFire compatible systems
  • Improves performance for the DirectX 10 and DirectX 10.1 version of Stalker Clear Sky on both single and CrossFireX configurations at higher resolutions
  • Brothers in Arms - Hells Highway no longer displays corruption on the 'Black Friday' level.

Interesting. I wonder if Nvidia had any issues like ATI did.

Download from the knowledge-base page, you've got links to the files there. I'm told you can't directly link to those files.

btarunr have you heard any optimizations for Cod5 yet? I know it runs off of the CoD4 engine but I was hoping to hear about some improvements.

Doesnt work on vista 64

Cannot get it to work on vista 64, it installs fine, but after the reboot it gives me an error saying no ati display driver detected, so i went into device manager, and there are yellow question mark by the 4870x2's, my card is an asus TOP 4870x2, i tried manually installing from device manager, no luck, i am hesitant to try driver cleaner as it messes up ati's driver install for the future, says no inf driver found, if anyone installs with luck let me know, my system specs are updated.

You need to use the driver cleaner and then go into the documentandsettings/app data which is hidden by deafault and then local/ delete ati, then instead of local this time go into roaming and delete ati. Then go into reg edit and what is it local machine , ahh just go into each main branch and delete the ati and amd from the software branches and ATI also leaves behind an ati folder in the program files with all this deleted you shouldn't have an issue after a reboot.

Have the generations 3 pack. Unfortunately can't use my original cd keys on steam because they've been generated by other people.

What kills me is that they don't program their stuff,, to do this on the uninstall if they are offering you new drivers..??

Yeah, i like ati, but their driver team needs to be improved in alot of areas, someone who is not computer savvy wouldnt know what to do, and they need to think about that, very poor imo, good hardware, poor programing.

More Crap Talk about ATI Drivers? For Shame!!!

many can say the same about the green team, tbh i have not had driver problems with ATI after Release of Cat 3.8s, until the 7.8s and Higher but they release Hotfix for the AGP cards(way they communicate with DX is diff then PCI Express nowadays).

BTW People Should Know Hotfix Drivers are Actual Drivers Meaning you have to uninstall the Others, unless otherwise specified.
