AMD Fusion Gaming Utility Version 1.0 Released
AMD today launched the first official version of its Fusion Gaming Utility. Working on AMD systems only, the Fusion Gaming Utility turns off various Windows processes and thus gains some additional performance when needed. AMD Fusion works with both Microsoft Windows XP 32/64-bit and Windows Vista 32/64-bit.

General
  • This utility is being released as a version 1.0 and, as such, may have additional bugs or errors that are not outlined in this Errata guide which result in system instability, data corruption or incorrect operation of the software or computer system in which it is implemented
  • We are looking into these issues, and new releases will be available on this site
  • AMD Fusion for Gaming will run on any PC with an AMD processor, but offers additional tuning for such systems with AMD chipsets and graphics
Errata:
  • The system may hang when running profiles utilizing AMD OverDrive cpu tuning on Windows Vista 64-bit and XP 64-bit operating systems, requiring a reboot
  • The system may hang when engaging a profile from the simple mode (button) interface, if the mouse click is held and the mouse is moved off of the application, on Windows XP systems, requiring a reboot
  • The system may hang when a profile is disengaging if the user is moving and/or clicking the mouse, requiring a reboot
  • It may not be possible to create custom profile with ATI Catalyst Auto-Tune GPU tuning enabled on Windows XP 64-bit systems
  • In Windows XP 64-bit and Vista 64-bit operating systems, there may be a long delay waiting for a profile to engage
  • When AMD Fusion for Gaming is disengaged, the system may not be fully restored to its previous state, requiring a reboot
  • Valve's Steam online gaming platform will be shut down when engaging a profile
  • Some applications that are shut down will not automatically start back up when AMD Fusion for Gaming disengages
  • Some applications may not shut down as intended when AMD Fusion for Gaming engages
  • AMD OverDrive upgrades may not install properly with AMD Fusion for Gaming installed on the system
  • Some special characters in custom profile names do not save correctly
  • A message that states that ATI Auto-Tune has not yet been performed may not display when running profiles utilizing GPU tuning
  • When editing or creating a profile, the Enter key will cancel the operation without a warning message
  • Profiles with leading or trailing white space characters may cause multiple profiles to appear to have the same name
  • On the status screen, the font appears to change from top to bottom
  • Profile names can not be changed
  • The application window will not remain on a secondary display when switching between the simple and advanced views
  • A new profile will overwrite an existing profile with the same name, without a warning message

Also works in older AMD systems, like my Socket A rig. Didn't help much though, because it has Radeon 9250. The worst hardware item I have ever bought :shadedshu

Of course AMD boost and other new features are not supported in older systems.

From what I understand only un-optimized systems will benefit from this. Lets say you have something like remote registry turned on. Fusion will turn it off. Things like that. I currently only have 36 processes running so I doubt this will be any benefit to people like me.

Raises my Vantage score a lot. Also helps in Mass Effect and Saints Row 2.

They say AMD systems only, do they mean with an ATI card or only with a AMD CPU?

Both, from what I understand. You'd need AMD CPU and ATI GPU.

Right they need to be more clear when they state this as that is what they say on ther site where I seen this like a month ago. Will only run on AMD systems, well that's great verify what that means AMD come on... I have two ATI cards, does that classify as an amd system?

AMD owns ATi, that doesn't mean they are AMD Radeon's now. They are still ATi.

I remember the first time I ran the beta, told it maxed performance and it try to kill ever service, locking my pc up. Basically what this program is equal to is clicking start-control panel-admin tools-services and turning off every possible service.

It kills services, even works on 64-bit systems.

I gained about 150 megs of ram running the expert profile.
It killed Winamp and PeerGuardian, but didn't kill rainmeter.
I wanna know wtf "Hard Drive Acceleration" is...

If I were this program, I'd kill explorer, then have my own little game-explorer open, then start explorer when the game ended.

sounds quite good ... i mean turning services off that aren't needed during games isn't a bad idea ... there needs to be an opensource prog that do stuff like taht for all systems

It is basically the same program as Game Optimizer 1.0. They work the same and 36 processes or not it will turn some off and help.

Ok but what the hell does it do EXACTLY.
It raises the core speed of the CPU, GPU, shuts off unneeded processes, and uses the system RAM as a form of disk boost, probably prefetching data for the main game process. It also unloads other windows processes, depending on what you choose, the firewall, your anti-virus, some networking support, etc....



Basicly anythign to free up every available cycle, every bit of RAM, and a slight overclock.

its actually really good it saves you time manually disabling services it gave me a 5 fps boost in gta 4 benchmark on expert profile

nice but i shut off services manually so they never start, at least ones i deem unnecessary to normal system operation and gaming.

its some nice software and its a good idea and would also take some serious programming lingo...but personally i end my own processes and apps, etc when im gaming.
