Logitech G19 Keyboard Available for Pre-Order Now for $199 at Amazon.com

With deep regret I inform you that Logitech's G19 keyboard is now up for pre-order. For those of you willing to pay $199.99, Logitech G19 will offer you 12 programmable macro G-keys, user-selectable backlighting color, two high-speed USB 2.0 ports and what's probably the only new feature - a color GamePanel LCD with 320x240 resolution, enough to display game stats, system information, video playback, images and many other items. Unfortunately, to me the keyboard comes with a killer price, $200 for one color LCD with the size of a GSM display? If you're still excited after knowing the price and want to pre-order one, it is available now here at Amazon.com.

Mainly due to the fact there is an individually controllable OLED screen underneath each key, which can display a picture - the keyboard is an incredible bit of kit and possibly worth its weight in gold to those in the music, photo and video editing professions. On top of that it opens up new ideas for keyboards that could display the key functions when CTRL, SHIFT or ALT is pressed which could potentially be a great future addition to games (if someone comes up with a cheaper version further down the line!).

Go on youtube and type in 'Optimus Prime' you'll get some idea why its a keyboard worth $1600.

i doubt that it would help in the music industry when using most programs you either use a midi keyboard or your using the mouse turning 'nobs' on virtual effects units or mixers, or you could go 'old school' and use proper hardware :D i still carn't see how the fact the keys show pretty pictures can justify the price

I will stick with my G15. Great keyboard. I don't need a color LCD anyway.

CharismaBest "keyboard" ever... probably better termed an input device.

Does not look too durable, and I could no type correctly cause the keys would be moving all over the place when I did.

Nice to see another user from nottingham! :)
Well that was my thought when i first saw the concept mockups a few years ago, ive followed this thing since the original concept, and for a long time it was considered vaporware and never going to happen, then out of the blue it became available, although as much as i'd like one, i could never bring myself to spend that much on a keyboard - $200 is a more reasonable price but you'd want a damn good keyboard for the money!
Im sure eventually once the OLED technology ages a bit, the price of a keyboard like this might become more realistic, the ground work has been done, its just a case of waiting for the cost to come down!!

Im actually closer to newark than nottingham, but then again thats not really that far away, its all nottinghamshire xD Anyway, likewise, nice to see another notts user! :toast:

I would like to spend a day with this keyboard, i think i will when i get the chance. I didnt mind the G15 Revision 1. This looks like hybrid revision 1 & 2 with the next phase in advancement. I like it so far, part the price tag.

IMO, i would take the $200, and by a small secondary LCD monitor...then a G15.

Plenty of people will pay $200 for a keyboard. Hell, I paid 90 euro ($115) for my Logitech G7 like 3 years ago and I didn't even game on PC back then, it was more of an impulse buy. I saw it and had to have it.

A keyboard does much more, so why not? Though I wouldn't buy it because I'd get the G15.

Heh, It wouldn't even have to be that small either. You could get a 19" and a g15 for the $200.
