Design Your Own HD 4890 Contest Extended

Earlier this month, amongst extensive news and reviews coverage of the ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics accelerator, TechPowerUp in partnership with Hightech Information Systems (HIS) announced the "Design Your Own HD 4890 Contest", where we will be giving away a special HIS Radeon HD 4890 graphics accelerator with body graphics designed by you. Your winning design makes it to the first prize itself, while first and second runners up receive other great prizes by HIS.

Thanks to the great response from our readers, we have decided to extend the contest up to May 31st 2009. We are overwhelmed by the creativity many of our contestants have exhibited, some even thinking they could come up with more than three design candidates. We have therefore decided to up the limit to five, just to let you step up your chances by a good margin. Jesus, I just checked the thread, how many people have just joined to enter the competition which is their first post :eek: I suppose an excellent way to get new membership providing some of them actually stay.

The guy who drew the dragon and angel design told me he will stay, so that's at least one.

this isn't good news, are you crazy? the new 4890 will not be received until mid june (if they are lucky anyway), by the time they finally get it, it will be obsolete.

You will have a 4890 that is uniqe man. I would be stoked if I'd win a ATI Rage with my design (if they had fan shrouds that is).

should be a minimum post entry so they need at at least have posted some stuff to get in

you might get a lot of spam and troll users but at least its better than one post memberss

those entry's are amazing... Its a shame they arent on the other side of the cards so they can be seen while in the comp.

to be honest, i've looked at designs and really, there is only a couple of really good ones. so, its just my opinion, but i think they have extended this thing to see if someone comes up with a better design because ... no offense to anyone , but this isn't a forum of super duper artistic people.
post this on conceptart.org and you will have a mountain of awesome designs. they might not understand what "HD4890" stands for, but they actually know a thing or two about design.

I'm a bit dissapointed that they extended the comp so long. 1 - 2 weeks max. Now we have to wait till the end of may :(

I tell you what, there have already been so many submissions and so much time for artists to come up with a design that I don't think that the extension is really needed.

There are countless awesome designs that could be used for the card, how can anyone judge something like that? In the first few pages alone I kept thinking to myself, "That's the one. No wait that's the one. Oh man I want that. Oh man that's the winner right there. Oh crap look at that one. "

Really great submissions. As an amateur photoshop user, I'm very humbled lol.

The problem is 90% of the submissions so far are illegal. I wouldn't give up hope yet stink.

Yea most of them have unapproved logo's or pre-rendered images from another source.

I noticed the same. Thats why i went a different route with my design.
