wish AMD would have something to counter this, so we don't have 8800Ultra-like prices on Intel CPUs...

I thought these wer supposed to replace the 940 and 965 at the same price points. This is a bit disappointing.

shame that these will sell only in small ammounts to the bleeding edge guys, your typical enthusiast is still gonna go for a D0 920 and clock it to 4Ghz +.

I'd rather get an 8-core Xeon setup than buy one of those i7 950's.

I remember when i bought my first PC in 94, The newest fastest CPU was the DX4-100 from Intel. Guess how much for it.... 1100$

Intel CPU may change... But their prices don't.

well the 950 is at a "reasonable" price, at least somewhat, it's over 3 ghz and not 1 grand at least:).

Kinda wondering if its worth getting? I'm looking into building an i7 system but don't wanna have to upgrade in a month or two. I cant build it till the beginning of next yr any ways. If wondering, i'm currently over seas. I'm gonna need a new system when I get back. What do you all think? Should i get all equip and build in Jan or wait and see whats out then? I think i should wait but its sooo hard. lol. I'm one of those guys that's gotta have it. lol.

thanx for extra 400mhz speed over i7 920 with extra 400$ , "you pay 1$ for each 1mhz cpu frequency increase from intel"
