Intel today introduces four new mobile processors, and a new mobile chipset. The new CPUs include three Core 2 Duo models - T9900 (TDP 35W, 6 MB of L2 cache, $530 price), P9700 (TDP 25W, $348 price), P8800 (3 MB of L2 cache, $241) clocked at 3.06 GHz, 2.80 GHz and 2.66 GHz respectively, and the ultra-thin laptop orientated SU2700 that works at 1.3 GHz. As for the Core 2 Duo models, they all feature a 1066 MHz FSB. In addition, Intel today unveils the Mobile Intel GS40 Express chipset for future ULV-based laptops. This value chipset enables ULV-based laptops to support features consumers have come to expect from laptops including HD playback, Windows Vista Premium support and native support for integrated HDMI. All new Intel stuff is shipping now to retail and OEM channels, so you should expect availability very soon.

that P8800 looks good but they should have added a little more cache since its more or less a top of the line chip

my e8500 has a 1333 bus and has 6MB L2 cache ,it is 3.16Ghz stock (mine runs @4Ghz), not sure of the US prices but i got mine here in the UK a year ago for £125 , surely this is a better chip than the T9900 (TDP 35W, 6 MB of L2 cache, $530 price @ 3.06) am i missing something ?

i wonder how much more power the 35w draws vs the 25w cpus? I'm currently running a P8600 but the 3mb cache and clock speed is killing me. That T9900 looks promising, but I wonder how much battery life would I be loosing stepping up to a 35w cpu.

Like Atom already said, your cpu would blister the plastic on a laptop.

Want more SU2700 devices. After all, it's a LOT more powerful than an Atom 330, and if an Atom is good enough for a netbook, the SU2700 is good enough for an über-notebook.
