Battlefield 3 Confirmed, Beta in the Making?
The CEO of Electronic Arts (EA), John Pleasants confirmed that the company will publish Battlefield 3, the newest addition to the Battlefield franchise, which is one of the most popular online team-based tactical-shooter games. Pleasants spoke with TechFragments, during a presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference in Chicago. "I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Of course, that's not in [this] fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good.", he said.
The source also shed some light on the game, which inherits its gameplay from Battlefield 2, and will be similar to it. The game will support up to 40 players per team, will feature 24 different vehicles, and 17 different weapons. Some kinds equipment need to be unlocked in order to use them, which serve as achievements in online play. From what EA says, the game will not make it this year, though it is likely that it will hit stores in the winter holiday season of 2010. A beta could serve as prelude to the launch, which may arrive by summer of 2010, according to the source.

Your rebuttal was to make a reference to using one weapons over another in a different game. It really isn't the same no matter how much you wish to believe it. That video showed you Mashtuur Map which had
-jets
-black hawk with rock pads
-etc
None of which are in the retail version of BF2. These weapons were not replaced with another weapon. That aspect of game play for the Mashtuur map is simply not there.
Actually the laser designator is still in the Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Objects_client.zip\Weapons\Handheld\SIMRAD\Info directory. The object already exists in the game, its just not used.
Wouldnt they make more $$ if they had new game more like a two year cycle than what?..5 years.See its been so long I cant remember.Wasnt it 2003?
More player = bigger maps, thuss kinda makes it the same as 64 or 32 on smaller maps.
Take MAG, Im only following that game to see if they can pull it off but apart from that im not interested at all.
Just hope they sort out the voice comms - by squad and by team would be nice coz 100 peeps all shouting at once can be a bit distracting...
All they need to do is build the same game on a newer engine with better graphics, physics and interactions (fix that horrible hit-box) and it will be a winner cause the gameplay is about the best I've played.
