Battlefield 3 Confirmed, Beta in the Making?

The CEO of Electronic Arts (EA), John Pleasants confirmed that the company will publish Battlefield 3, the newest addition to the Battlefield franchise, which is one of the most popular online team-based tactical-shooter games. Pleasants spoke with TechFragments, during a presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference in Chicago. "I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Of course, that's not in [this] fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good.", he said.

The source also shed some light on the game, which inherits its gameplay from Battlefield 2, and will be similar to it. The game will support up to 40 players per team, will feature 24 different vehicles, and 17 different weapons. Some kinds equipment need to be unlocked in order to use them, which serve as achievements in online play. From what EA says, the game will not make it this year, though it is likely that it will hit stores in the winter holiday season of 2010. A beta could serve as prelude to the launch, which may arrive by summer of 2010, according to the source.

BumbleBeesorry deleted post. but i'm proving a point also the sniper crosshair is different, the scout had a nail gun and the demoman had a mirv grenade (tnt) all five of these do not exist in retail.
You really aren't making any clear sense here. How does this relate to why you responded to my post that, I will believe it when I see it?" I provided a video which clearly showed folk of game play concept for a particular map that didn't exist in the PC version of this game. No jets, no sight designator, etc.

Your rebuttal was to make a reference to using one weapons over another in a different game. It really isn't the same no matter how much you wish to believe it. That video showed you Mashtuur Map which had
-jets
-black hawk with rock pads
-etc
None of which are in the retail version of BF2. These weapons were not replaced with another weapon. That aspect of game play for the Mashtuur map is simply not there.

Hell yeah, bring back Dolphin dive, G36E and a better shot registering system and I shall pwn again. Also hope that they fix the black screen shot problem so that admins can't shout "cheater" whenever someone got a good round.

I was using TF2 as an example of how a trailer can be different than the retail product. I don't understand your comment "I will believe it when I see it?" either you doubt weapons and aircraft that have yet to be even named will be in Battlefield 3 or you doubt the CEO of Electronic Arts seeing a build of Battlefield 3?

ShadowFoldYou actually like dolphin diving?..
I actually don't but it is so "effective". Once I saw a medic dolphin dived to rescue his buddy right smack in the middle of a huge fire fight and then they both dolphin dived out of combat zone to safety. No one was able to kill them. Funniest shit I've ever seen in BF2 .

I thought this much based on how you responded to me. I really can't make it any more clearer then what I've said, "I'll believe it when I see it". Which has nothing to do with your reference to TF2. Which makes this awkward because you are attempting to respond even though you admit you don't understand. Then make up something :wtf:

whats not to understand you are bitching and moaning about skins, weapons and a map that were not included in retail. I used the Team Fortress 2 trailer as an example of the exact same thing. my point was a trailer is to be taken with a grain of salt. you have such a bitter taste in your mouth for EA you are already bitching about Battlefield 3 and no real information has come out.

the laser targeter, player skin, vehicles and map. a lot of the youtube comments state the trailer was meant for PS2 and XBox most of this was added in the booster packs. i'm pretty sure this is the original trailer for BF2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MWqQ9nJEZA

No, that's not correct the laser designator, maps, etc was never used in the PC version ;)
Actually the laser designator is still in the Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Objects_client.zip\Weapons\Handheld\SIMRAD\Info directory. The object already exists in the game, its just not used.

Why do people care so much for more players in one game?
More player = bigger maps, thuss kinda makes it the same as 64 or 32 on smaller maps.

Take MAG, Im only following that game to see if they can pull it off but apart from that im not interested at all.

MAG = PS3 = Console = 30fps = NOPE. I like 80 players because you branch off into squads and it's more tactical that way. A lot funner with friends too.

Bf3

Just hope they sort out the voice comms - by squad and by team would be nice coz 100 peeps all shouting at once can be a bit distracting...

I'm quite looking forward to this.

All they need to do is build the same game on a newer engine with better graphics, physics and interactions (fix that horrible hit-box) and it will be a winner cause the gameplay is about the best I've played.

And preferbly make it to were the opposition are not magic at throwing grenades and managing to blow you up from miles away while you get nowhere near them.
