Found a fix for solving freeze crashes after under one hour of total BF4 gameplay.

If you have onboard audio enabled on your PC, disable it and a buy a USB, PCI, or PCI-E audio source. Switching to my DAC via USB instead of fiber worked for me.

i have a Lindy usb dac, i might try it.

That sounds like a memory leak! I would report that fix to DICE.

Just been on the same server as mailman, and a couple of other tpu'ers, its fun but my game crashed a couple of times, I think the others did too as i saw them have to rejoin.

Yeah man. Wish you were on the TS like the rest of TPU. We could have used you in a few places!

Just went like 24 and 6 or something with 3 melees; field upgrades are sweet. And I am pretty damn sure the last knife I countered the dudes attempt at countering and I swear I like punched him in the face to do so before plunging it in and taking his tags. At any rate it was awesome!

Edit: And some dude went down in the water with a chopper so I jumped in to get him with my sidearm but then couldn't find him. Though I did see the chopper underwater slowly sinking to the bottom. It's the little things...

Fuck it if it bogs it down, tone it down. I'm not running super duper, but I'm having fun
while I'm getting my ass handed to me. Just like all the BF games. It is Epic Battlefield.

You just need to find your "niche" and what works for you and your skillset in the game. For example I am terrible with recoiling assault rifles and not so great at range but could more than hold my own in BF3 closer up with the lasered 50-round P90 and also against vehicles.

Yeah I couldn't get it past the debris either. As for TS have you guys tried the in game VOIP yet? Really don't feel like screwing around with TS (nor have headset) but would happily listen to orders and verbal strategery in game...

It will be interesting to see what the other maps look like. Shanghai is a million times better than the BF3 beta map (why I never even bothered with the game), but I really hate maps that are bogged down to a single choke for the heavies.

For whatever reason I've also been having a hard time finding players with the heavy ammo drops for rocket resupplies...so it's like, 4-5 RPGs to kill a tank unless you get the seemingly random disable bonus, then as an engi without the carbine unlock, you are essentially out there with a pop gun and no anti-vehicle capacity. Carbine, 4x scope, AT mines, AT4, please! Yeah, yeah beta...

I love the reactions I get when I throw down the ammo crate.

SO many more PTFO-based points now it's killer. Especially if you tag objectives which is so easy and doesn't (yet) get in the way of trying to spot other nearby things. And I will be the Spot Ribbon and Medal champion!

Doesn't seem to be enough stationary AT's to begin with, or recons using the targeting laser. Ammo drops, targeting, etc. will hopefully be better with retail on good servers that have BF etiquette.

One thing I've noticed for sure, go for the NFO servers when there's one populated, they seem to have the best performance. As always the gameservers boxes are overloaded and play like Battlefield rubber band mode. And to think EA wanted to go with one GSP...

This map sucks imo... ya the tower falling is a cool idea.. but it really doesnt look all that good when it does... and every 12 year old and his brother get onto random rooftops.

As far as the game goes, I like how capping gives ALOTTT more points.

Right capping and a lot of other objective and teamplay-related things. And yeah it's annoying when you are being sniped form god knows which of 15 or 20 rooftops (at least at first) but I actually like the fact you can control your chute descent so much now and land anywhere on a dime. Means you can often get up there after them just the same as they did at least; in BF3 most of the time I had no clue or always missed the spot.

Edit: Decided to update PB finally as maybe will help with lag spikes and occasional crash though that just just seem to happen on full servers mainly. PBsetup.exe 3.6 includes BF4 now.

Dont worry, Im sure someone will come out with a mod to limit the server to 2 or 4 snipers per team. They already have it for BC2 and BF3. Unfortunately it has to be done just like many metro only servers ban the use of explosives.


I dont mind people sniping, but when 80% of your team consists of snipers you know youre not gonna be moving forward with any game objectives unless its straight out TDM.

People just seem to give up too easy and not push objective. as soon as the team starts losing everyone seems to magically turn into snipers and the whole round is just a waste of time

Don't like snipers personally, they don't contribute to the game overall, and some are just not team players.

Some do by spotting , but the Lonewolf who just is in it for his K/D ratio and
doesn't help his team should be banned or go play TDM. It is team oriented game and they should play it that way.

I wonder if Dice/EA is in the business of selling video cards and hardware in general or games. BF4 has nothing visually superior to BF3 to warrant the performance hit. Though I understand it's a beta, frankly I was expecting smooth gameplay even if I would get around 30-40 FPS compared to the 50s I am getting in BF3, at the same settings and that is ULTRA preset. Instead it feels very uneven, stutters, heavy dips in frames and generally unpleasant play while I use only 2MSAA (without AA it looks like crap). I'm not a hardcore gamer but I like some good fun, I'm not after steady 60FPS but I want to see nice graphics. Otherwise everything is fine, nothing special, I still think it's BF 3.5. Maybe they will fix it, maybe it's Win7 the problem but for now it doesn't look like I will buy the game soon.

I don't think DICE has really helped much by giving recons the only magnified scope gun by default. The class should come with a carbine or SMG by default with high-power bolt action rifles coming much, much later with unlocks. That way, new players are forced to explore the real use of the class, rather than immediately being presented with a toy that feeds the noob instinct to try to find the perfect hiding spot and snipe from a mile away. Those players have never contributed anything; all experienced players know how it plays out when you have too many snipers on your team.

Hmm.

I think the graphical fidelity is higher. The textures look far higher res and the ground seems far more tessellated to me, especially around the rubble field once the building has come down.
There seems to be a shit tonne of gfx glitches (dead choppers stuck in the sky etc) but it's sods law that someone as crap as me in the game gets a good gameplay experience.
Yeah, it's all playing fine for me so far but unfortunately I'm still shit at it.
