Combo deal with R6:Vegas is at the bottom. Both the game and shipping end up being free. No mail-in rebates of any kind.

Just ordered mine tonight. Took a lot of kissin ass with the mrs. lol. Told her she'll get my Brisbane for her HTPC, and did a lot of groveling.

Nice! I see the 6000+ has finaly come down below the $200 mark! I'd really love to get this but I'm probably going to wait to upgrade until the Phenom is here unless I come across a deal I can't refuse.

Soooo tempting though... :ohwell:

Being cheap is great, means you're one step behind, but at least your PC won't completely suck, and you save enough money to spend on something more important than computers (oh noes, did I just say something MORE IMPORTANT than COMPUTERS?!) :p

And that is one great deal. RB6 Vegas is a pretty good game, so I guess you can see it as being a nice extra for buying a new CPU.
AMD should start making some free game deals. Intel did it with their quads, with Supreme Commander (which is a fitting game, since it - well, supposedly, since I don't actually know, or have first-hand experience - runs better on multi-core CPUs).

so what is the main advantage of buying the FX-62 over the 6000+?
is the multiplier not limited on the FX or something? better quality materials?

Mostly just an unlocked multi.

But the 6000+ has a 15x multi anyway, and all A64s are unlocked downwards. I don't imagine many people will use a multi higher than 15x anyway.

6000+ chip oc better than FX62 they are designed differently and take more power than the FX62 a 6000+ will do 3.3ghz to 3.6ghz a FX may do 3.0ghz if your lucky.

Speaking of which, my 6000 is sitting at 3.3Ghz right now. I think my board is limiting me tho. When I had the X2 3800+ Windsor, my ECS board was 100% stable with it @ 2.7Ghz and 1.4V(the highest it offered). With this board, although ram overclocking is much improved, it took 1.475v for the same cpu to be stable at 2.7Ghz.

Any suggestions on a good AM2 overclocking board that affordable? I was considering the ASUS 580X board.

My old 6000+ would do 3.530ghz it was a monster I used the 8 and 10 multipliers. Bench your 2900xt with it and watch your scores jump
Yeah, the benches will come soon. What board did you have with the 6000? I'm using a 12x multi, atm. Gives me a nice 1100Mhz ram clock.

My old 6000+ would do 3.530ghz it was a monster I used the 8 and 10 multipliers. Bench your 2900xt with it and watch your scores jump. The best board for that cpu, is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131011, and miine would do 405 fsb which is high for a AM2 board. The board really lets you overclock the hell out of your pcie slots mine was stable at 150mghz which increases your video card bandwith and performance.I would rank that board better than my DFI lanparty Ultra D and tied with my current board as the best board I ever owned. It can even act as a wireless server or reciever. It also overclocked my memory like crazy alot better than my intel core 2 boards could with the exception of this one(about a tie) You cannot use crossfire with it, it's sli but it's is one of the best overclocking AM2 boards made. Most reviews where a 6000+ went over 3.4 ghz used this board it has a 8 phase power supply and solid capacitors. It's a monster and super super stable. Plus it has heatpipes so no noisy ass fan and comes ready for water cooling and has a fan for the passive heatsinks if you decide to go that way. It has every bell and whistle if it had titts it could Bl-w you.

:D

mine wasn't at 1.6v but that chip can take it, it's is a super pumped up version of the old toledo cores it can take heat better because of it's design look at the wattage compared to the FX62. Up to 1.65v is safe with water on that chip for everyday. On air like with a Scythe Infinity 1.625v I would say is fine for benching on air. I would say on air for every day 1.6v is the limit.

Eh, what the hell, I'll give it a shot. It's warrantied, and I have 2 X2 cpus to fall back on. 1.6v, here I come. lol.

EDIT: @Dom, yeah I'm on water, but heat isn't the only thing that kills cpus. Too much voltage can cause current leakage, which degrades the chip as well, regardless of heat.

voltage doesn't usually kill a chip infact very rarely it's heat and your on water. On water I've seen that chip used with voltage near 1.7v for benching. Just watch your heat. I used 1.65v without trouble benching on air and it made zero difference on my chip from 1.536v for stability sake. On my old motherboard my ram was stable at DDR1188 with out errors 24/7 my new board won't do more than DDR 1133 stable with the same ram and alot more voltage. Wile post back with your results I will check on you before I hit the hay.
