Broken HDD?

HDD is Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB HD502HJ

I've bought it 2 days ago and had the following problems so far

I've installed L4D2 on it. After finishing the campaign at the moment where the game returns you to the main menu my Win7 gave me a BSOD. And after reboot the other HDD (an older 160GB Samsung model I never had troubles with - it's also on IDE bus (as slave, there was another HDD on master which I removed to put in the new one), while the new one is obviously on SATA) cannot be seen by even BIOS. And it was the same after the next reboots. I had to turn off PC and turn it back on to make BIOS detect it again.

Then just a few minutes ago I was deleting MOH and at the very moment when it finished deleting it I received another BSOD with the same results (not detectable first HDD, had to turn PC off and on)

I can also hear the "click" sound whenever I try to access the new HDD after some time of it being idle.

So is it definitely a faulty drive?

Scan for errors using a HDD utility. Also run a disk checker, either Windows or other brand.

Which HDD utility would you recommend? I've checked Samsung's web-site but it looks like they have utils only for old drives.
Ran Window's Checkdisk on a new drive a few times (without 'scan for a bad sectors' option though) but it reports no problems. The disk is also almost empty so far obviously.

Also I forgot to mention but I've also installed 2 GBs of RAM, also from Samsung the same day - if it can be related in any way at all

HDTune is just one. There are so many to try to list off, just try googling Hard Drive Utility.

HUTIL is the samsung tool I use for Samsung drives. I would recommend grabbing UBCD which will have several tools for testing memory and hard drives.

P.S. If HUTIL doesn't work then test with trusty Seatools.

Tested with HD Tune (full error check) and Samsung's ESTool (full check 3 times) - no errors found. SMART also shows that HDD is in a perfect state.

As it turns out it can be a RAM fault after all.

Benchmark Scores Meh benchmarks.
A single click is most likly the HDD falling to sleep. Go to your power options and change when the HDD goes to sleep.
