Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in November

I haven't bought a Call of Duty since ever... so I figure this one will probably the one that I hop on the band wagon for. Plus, I've loved Kevin Spacey ever since seeing the movie K-Pax years ago...

the CoD games of today are an extremely poor representation of what they were years ago - MW1 and WaW are the last semi-decent representations of CoD but they're not the best by far.

MW1 was good for allowing community created content.
WaW on the other hand wasnt so great with community content and Treyarch overhyped the fact that they were bringing vehicles back to CoD - a feature of CoD1 and its UO expansion where you could drive tanks and jeeps 3 or 4 mins across map for CTF or Base Assault. Some would say it almost felt like battlefield but those two games played very very differently. All these 'vehicles' turned out to be was 1 tank per team on just 2 of the 4 or 5 stock maps - hardly a return to form.

I know i always harp on about how great CoDs of old are better than todays iterations but honest to god they were and they still are to some of us

Also - it annoys me to no end when some (and i apologise if this term causes any offense) consolefag starts some sort of debate about which CoD is the best/greatest when most of the console players didnt even start playing CoD till MW1. What gives you the right to judge which is the best CoD is best when you havent even played the first ever CoD game??

Still doesn't look better than BF4.

You can't really tell by a few scenes, esp early trailers that are often a hodge podge of cutscenes and pre-rendered footage.

BF4 looks great in certain trailers, but in game even on the high end AMD hardware it was biased toward in development, it looks worse in many places than BF3 did.

DICE have also been spotty at best with performance lately. I was psyched at first to hear they're developing the next Stars Wars with Frostbite 3, but after all the problems with BF4, I'm having my doubts.

Its all the kids with their consoles. CoD hasnt sold well on PC since the shit hole that was MW2 that shafted the community with no dedicated servers and other stuff.

I've held off on buying CoD games until something that looks new and interesting comes along. Looks like CoD is going to be making 2143 before BF gets to it.

Even with your own example you prove my point. These pre-rendered scenes don't even look better than BF3. Never mind BF4. There is only so far the Quake 3 engine can take you......Its over 10 years old now.

Actually you completely missed my point, that it's impossible to tell until you play the game. BF4 sp is what I personally am going by though, and in game, it's appalling bad how it looks in many places.

If anything, you proved MY point by implying BF4 graphics are better than BF3. They made it sound like they would be, but they're clearly not. Not in sp anyway, and with all the performance issues they've had in mp, they didn't exactly nail that either.

DICE's skill level at coding isn't as good as it's hyped to be. Mantle may have stood a chance if it weren't for their many mistakes. The DICE team are pretty much solely responsible for AMD's bad PR lately.

That's not at all entirely true. Often times we've seen Flash degraded trailers of lesser systems such as the 360, and the PC version ends up looking quite a bit better. The degree to which an actual PC title can look better or worse varies a lot too.

I would think Watch Dogs alone would make that glaringly obvious. It's a game more than any in recent history that has run the gamut between pristine trailers and trashy looking ones. It just doesn't make sense to rate a game's graphics until you actually SEE the final product.

I also don't feel Spacey's sexual orientation needed be aired. It's not only obvious to most by now, as good as an actor as he is, it has no bearing whatsoever on what he's capable of sexually on film or in voice, and is an insult to his kind.

And you're completely ignoring that we've seen the quality of the WD trailers go from pristine, to dodgy, then back to semi pristine, leaving much to guesswork. I think you should just leave it alone. All mailman ever cares about in games is the graphics. He will just keep coming back and trolling you about it.

How much do you wanna bet its still a modified Tech 3 engine with uncompressed textures? Ill bet you a steam sale game it will still have PK3 files in it. Sledgehammer isn't an engine developer. At most they adopted the Tech 4 engine......which I highly doubt.

As for Frag he just proved my point again with "WD trailers go from pristine to dodgy". They didn't start out as dodgy! The trailer above is a DEBUT TRAILERS AND IT LOOKS LIKE BALLS.

Im not doubting the fact they just upgraded to Id Tech 4 or 5 (5 more likely) and done a few modifications or something, but I am sure they have completely left Tech 3 behind. They cant keep using that engine if they want to concentrate on new "Next Gen First" CoD games.

That's my thoughts exactly. Rather than beating a rant drum I'm content to say at least it shows improvement on the previous installments.

I think your only "torpedoes" are the dump you're taking on the game out of a mere guess as to how much worse than the trailer it will be mm.

The Rocksteady Arkham games are also examples of trailers not exceeding actual in game content. I've always been impressed at what they can do with the mere UE3 engine.

But alas, it's like talking to an egotistical and eccentric brick wall trying to breach your thick skull.

Point is the cycle starts off as pristine....ALWAYS. Doesn't matter what happens after. My point is if this is the "Pristine" debut trailer it sucks. Its not going to magically get better than the debut trailer. That doesn't happen.

As for me saying "I guess we will see" it was in the context of what engine they will use. Not the trailer. Nice attempt at a defect however. Shows my torpedo's of truth are hitting your hull of fail.

Cant say nothing bad about COD. I Like all COD games but then again I only played Modern Warfare 1 and before, nothing after MW.

Yes if you played the stuff after that you would totally change your opinion LOL.

Graphics wise, it would be nice though if 2014 games could surpass the graphics of 2011's hard reset. The only real difference is a ton of motion blur and hdr.

On gameplay, COD 1 was an epic, the ship level where captain price never returned made me kind of sad at the time. COD 2 was very good, but not nearly as memorable as the first game. The Russian campaign of the second COD was stellar.

The later COD games were so bland and unremarkable I don't remember much about them. To summarize the multiplayer: full of annoying children.

COD2's deceptive advertisement that showed fake gameplay footage, PC games probably didn't reach this level of graphic detail until maybe 2010.

I have always thought of the CoD games as made for kids because the storyline is always ridiculous and the graphics are made to run on console and old cheap rigs. Plus, the multiplayer is repetitive so it is geared to the more baser human instincts.
