Do we want Title-Mods that fix thread titles?

As always, happy to help if you need anything.

I think that "Title mods" should have jurisdiction in all forums (you trust them no?).
In forums like reviews, articles, news there would be little or no reason to moderate the titles.

that sounds reasonable. also things like the software sections as well. I think its a good idea. Their are too many threads that get unnoticed or in a section were another mod cant do it. Not to mention the extra help will increase the likely hood that these mistakes will get caught and edited sooner so like you said we dont have 5000 OMG, help, odd problem, spilt cheeze wizz, thread titles.

I don't think W1zz would have started this thread had it been so easy.... ;)

I have the idea that modding on TPU is pretty hefty and time-consuming.

Spelling and adjusting/changing thread titles would be too much to ask from a mod with more important tasks as a priority... Hence the need for sous-mods to take care of thread titles and general grammar.

It is a simple thing for the mods to change a title and it's not very time consuming.
What is difficult is for the current mod team to monitor all of the threads all of the time.
Especially when an active forum pushes threads off the latest posts section.
Scrolling through all of the forums IS very time consuming.

if they have no reason to do x, then they should no have permission to do x

imagine the drama if someone who saves his login in a cookie (we all do), has a friend over, they get stoned, friend puts funny titles on all news posts and reviews

Exactly, the more eyes you have looking out for the problem, the more likely you are to spot it and get it corrected.

Lol ... good point. I never have that issue so it didn't occur to me.
I think that you are right in restricting news, reviews and articles from the "Title mods".
They can always PM the OP if they find an error.

Definitely, especially since errors in those sections are rare anyway, since only a limitted number of people can post topics there already. The "Title Mods" should only be able to edit titles in section where standard users can create topics, IMO.

i think W1zz goal is to offset some of the simple things mods do so that they can spend more time maintaining the peace, then have the sous-mods just keep the place looking more professional and attractive to new members

ill toss myself in for the running, generally try to keep my spelling and grammar clean, just lazy today about caps

It may be prudent to not allow "Title mods" to change the title of a post from another moderator (ie. stickies), but I don't know how difficult that would be.

    People risk that?
I don't believe I'm the only one who deletes history and cookies every time I log off?
Basically I do it because I have a 7 y/o in the house and if she finds some unattended post I'm sure she'd be experimenting with all the lovely emoticons she sees.... So I never risked, lol I'd never be able to explain it if a post of mine were "edited" by her to read only this type of stuff without any words:
So yup, deleting cookies and logging off everytime are a must for me.

Hey BP, we used to see posts like "My friend accessed my account, it wasn't me. Don't ban me."
    It happens.

The funny thing about thread titles is that most of the titles that are without context are the ones created when people are excited for some reason.
    "Help!"
    "Guess what i got"
    "!@#$ <add company name>"

People seem to not be able to articulate the subject of the thread into the title if they are excited or frustrated. This seems to happen a lot on TPU, so we either have a whole lot of excited or frustrated people.

I say keep alterations just for spelling and grammar. If complaints arise based on subjects of favoritism or dislike their privileges should be revoked upon a 1st offense IMO.

Well, the way I see that is that the user should be banned/infracted nonetheless.
    It's too easy an excuse.
Plus it's a very easy situation to avoid.
Ergo guys who post such an excuse are most often the abusers themselves.

We could probably reduce the occurance of thread title problems if people were just told to report bad thread titles. The report post blurb states for spam or obnoxious content, but that could include titles if needed. Just a thought.
