I managed to pick up the 360 version of Homefront a few days ago. But due to being pretty busy I've only been able to grab an hour or so to play it here and there.
The visuals are not too bad considering the age of the console (but not great either). The scenary is nice and bright but lacking in any real texture. Although they have managed to make the US look like a war zone. Hopefully the graphics will be vastly improved on a good gaming rig.
For me, I've found Homefront to play like a mash-up of Call Of Duty, Battlefield and Killzone. Your squad tends to move from one fire-fight to the next, with an occasional 'shock & awe' scene thrown in (ala CoD), for example: jumping into a mass grave of US civilians and using a corpse for cover.
So far, I'm enjoying the single player campaign and I'm about 3-4 hours into it. I've only spent about 20 minutes on the MP mode but it seems ok. I'm more of a CoD MP fan tbh and this reminded me of Battlefield (which isn't a bad thing obviously). I think I need to spend more time on it before making a final judgement
Overall, I consider Homefront to be a decent game. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but I'm findng it to be a fun shooter. If you're looking for something new and fresh, this isn't it I'm afraid.
I don't know if its worth the £39.99 console price tag. But I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up for £24.99 (@ PLAY.com) for the PC
