@Bones - But they don't use a PR company.... at least they don't with me, who's much smaller... HU and I'm assuming tpu talk to bdr and his buddy directly...at least in the US... not sure how they handle it in Europe actually.....

Can't argue with your statement since you know your business but also by your statement there is no external PR to shift blame to, at least there doesn't seem to be.
That would have been a better situation for them if so but since it seems there isn't..... :nutkick:

Somebody at Nvidia is gonna get it and it's not a matter of "If", more like "When".

You know, after Valantar devolved into personal attacks with his nonsense post, where he also revealed his role as a "media analyst" aka social media monitor / propaganda artist / marketing lacky / messaging control, I was just not going to respond.

But now here you are, playing your childish game. You guys are the forum thugs here, every forum has them. He called Nvidia the media mob, what a hypocrite.

These are corporations and they don't play by your make believe double standards, they never have and they never will.

Nvidia's only mistake here was sending an email - they should have just kept their mouths shut - Like AMD mostly did.

Oh, didn't think about that?

AMD withheld the R9 Nano from Techreport and KitGuru. Quite likely others. This is a few magnitudes of order bigger media outlet than that pea shooter two guys in a back bedroom with a camcorder HW unboxed channel.

Doesn't fit with your media control narrative? So sad..

2015 AMD witholds samples from KitGuru :

And did the same thing to TechReport :

Oh heck lets just tear them up. AMD bribed people to crash an Nvidia event. They still have these groups in operation. Team Red is a real thing. It is basically a propaganda / disinformation campaign, part of their marketing department. Email pic and article from Forbes below.

Now, this I would say, is playing dirty. Really unethical.

Are you dumb enough to think they have changed? Just a question.

Who is it Valantar works for now?

So Imma try again. The point about my Hitler post was that whataboutism is a bad thing. If Nvidia does something uncool "whatchabout AMD!!??" doesn't justify it. If bad behaviour is justified because someone else has done the same few things become actually bad. The point is: AMD doing uncool thing is uncool. Nvidia doing uncool things is uncool, and both should be called out on it

I happen to agree with Jay that Nvidia needs to get it’s Posterior Cranial Induction fixed. They are completely out of touch.

The vast majority of gamers are not using RTX or its associated technologies. Most are playing games in rasterization mode because of either the the level of hardware needed to get the frames needed at an acceptable level, or because the quality level of RTX is just not there yet. Many people want quality images, but they don’t want a slideshow to achieve it. That standard can still be attained through rasterization. Nvidia doesn’t understand or refuses to understand that most people cannot afford their price for true entry into the RT world.

To threaten product samples because a review doesn’t say what you want it to say? Unethical to the core. If you just want a PR piece, do it yourself. If you want to have your product truthfully looked at, then send it out for reviews. You cannot have it both ways.

Sure, however I think with consoles having the abilities to do it now I think more games will start using it. I for one, if a game has RT as an option and I have a GPU that can do it, I will certainly be turning it on if its just a single player game and I don't need as many frames as I can get for multiplayer.

..... What?

All games right now use rasterization, RTX is the setting on top if you have a 2080ti or above and like 30FPS gameplay.
You do not hand out review samples and demand reviews be done exactly one way and one way only... that's marketing, not a review.

RTX is exclusive. Barely any titles support it. It's not the same as DirectX or Vulcan ray tracing at all... and all those games that support those methods? Oh, still rasterized for all the graphics before ray tracing of any flavour goes on top.

You just said that "No we dont care about 3D performance in 3D games on 3D graphics cards, we only care about ultra settings in our sponsored titles with regards to this one setting only"

You think TPU would review all these cards without free samples? Every single FE, Asus, Aourus, EVGA, etc etc etc etc FOR EVERY SINGLE MODEL? You think the smaller reviewers are going to as well?
No, they RELY on these samples... and being threatened to review them a certain way means that all reviews are identically faked and useless, or the cards don't get reviewed at all.
You think it was an accident the FE cards had these special review requirements, and they launched before the AIB cards?

I don't think this is true. Surely RTX was exclusive until ray tracing extensions were adopted in DX12 API as DXR in gaming.

But now that DirectX and Vulkan both have ray tracing libraries and extensions, its mostly up to AMD and Nvidia to develop GPUs that can do it via hardware. An RTX specific title is basically going to be non-existent now that both major APIs can do it.

RTX is really just a generic acronym for Ray Tracing and marketting for Nvidia to distinguish their GPUs that have RT cores/ray tracing archs vs those that don't. Cards without it keep the GTX name.

That is an email that was required for him to send, under duress. I guarrantee that was required by higher-up. It checks all the "you must officially backtrack, or else" boxes.
Pretty much, but it's still a back-pedal. If Steve had done something wrong NVidia likely would have stated their case for public view and then got a "feel" for public response. But that's not what happened..

Yes, I think that nGreedia acted like complete & utter shitheads here, but IMHO, the simplest remedy for this whole shitshow would be to ban ALL free review samples to anyone anywhere for any reason.

Then, if a site, such as TPU, AT, Tom's etc, wants to review a product, they should whip out their gold cards and head to the nearest electronics/computer store/etailer site and JUST BUY THE GODDAMNED STUFF !

Problem solved, 'nuff said :)

Granted, I understand this would require some time, money and effort on the reviewer's part, but when the review is completed, they could just sell the stuff here or on ebay or wherever and get part of thier money back...

A small price to pay to avoid this kind of mickey-mouse bullsh^t......

Fuck all to the smaller sites that can't afford it, eh? Not cool....

The sooner people realize an overwhelming majority of reviewers aren't shills and biased the better off we'll be.

It's a large price to pay for too many sites to handle. You'd be left with AT/TPU and some youtubers... no thanks.

DxR was released Before Rtx and Rtx is Nvidia's implementation of DXR not a stand alone ray API.

Brilliant, few points though.

How the actual ffff do they do day one reviews.
I assume you think the likes of w1zzard ,Earthdog etc have all the time and bots in the world to actually get a GPU, they haven't though I am crediting them here as I wouldn't know for sure.

They keep GPU to rebench with updates, new driver's ,new card's and for features like HWUB raytracing or cyberpunk 2077 (25 card comparison).

They're not free.

I get free facemasks off work, should I be paying for them?

They're a tool(free lol GPUs)

And the providing company gets way more than enough exposure to count that bill payed off anyway.

Sure are, they put DLSS results in the same context with native results for the 6900XT.

Oh, wait. Crap. That made Nvidia look good, sorry. The green card is on top, so it can't be cherry picking.

Man, you never miss a chance to show just how delusional you are.

"Next" ?

I though it was already here. :kookoo:

Yea... lol this. It's like the ones siding with Nvidia didn't even bother to watch or read about the HWUB video or anything at all and are blindly stabbing int he dark. They don't even know the freaking basic point that HWUB said they'd only cover RT lightly in that video and that they would make a RT FOCUSED VIDEO LATER.

Well, since you're now trolling (hounding me with repeated responses I'm ignoring would be considered trolling me) here's your response.

I never said it was great that this happens. I just said that it happens, and that thinking people know it happens. Moreover, 99% of the time it happens and you don't see it.

The only difference this time is you saw it.

Do you know why babies under 2 years old think its funny when you play peek-a-boo? It's because their brain has not developed sufficiently to understand that something they cannot see is there. So, when you pop your head up over a blanket, to them it is magic and suddenly they see you.

They don't know that you were always there behind the blanket, because their spatial awareness is not yet developed to that point.

In the same way, if you think AMD / Intel / Nvidia / General Motors / Toyota / Subaru etc give first dibs to hostile reviewers you are just gullible.

There's a really big YouTube car review site called 'The Fast Lane Truck / Car'. They gave Subaru some negative reviews and the guy is usually whining about not getting reviewer Subarus. His channel is probably 20X larger than HW unboxed.

The only difference this time is Nvidia did a peek-a-boo that unaware people can see. AMD did the same thing 5 years ago.

This is also why there are relatively few negative reviews on anything out there. People who give honest reviews don't get samples, unless they are already established and too big to ignore.

Most of the best reviews out there are done by people getting started, who have to buy their own samples.

Stop spreading bullshit , your implying Hwub did something or were negative, they're not.
They weren't and they didn't, but how would you know eh.
Too busy with the glossing over brush to get some facts in , wtaf peekaboo has to do with companies trying to mold reviewers how They like anyway, yes this happens behind doors , but I. Don't condone it and I sure as hell wouldn't buy in or defend it or downplay it.

As others have said you could just shrug and FF off uninterested when these things come to light and not join in threads you think are pointless.

Or if your cash flow will end up affected , join in be vocal.

But at least look into what your talking about.

The post was deleted so I restated it. Also, chill man, and stop insulting people (btw, I'm great at insulting people, just ask the mods, so i'm saying this as an experienced man).

What would define a hostile review?

And yeah all of that behavior (IE blocking reviewers giving bad reviews) is bad, and it is a tight rope to walk surely; calling out bad stuff while effectively being part of the PR machine. But again, others doing it doesn't make it ok, which was my main point.

Calling it out when it appears is fine. Saying you're going to buy brand X because brand Y has recently been caught is gullible. Buying into the 'indepence and unbias' of review sites is similarly, gullible. It's the baby who can't see what's behind the curtain, even though they just saw it a few minutes ago.
