Well I am possibly in the market for upgrading my gaming rig and donating its old parts to a possible media server / HTPC. I currently have a 680i and it has done great for me, but it seems to me that the Intel boards really are better overclockers in general and I dont care that much about multiple GPUs. I would like to keep it but I am highly considering a Q9550 for my new CPU and from what I have read the 45nm quads dont work on the 680 boards.
I dont want to wait for Nehalem because it will take a while for all the early adopters to blow their wads and let the prices come down and I could take advantage of that to get the older stuff.
Basically, do the 45nm quads work on the P45s and X38s/48s, are they better overclocking boards, and does PhysX work on them? I like Nvidia and all, but overclocking on the 680i can be so frustrating and the known issue of the raid controllers not liking ncq drives and being buggy in general isnt comforting either.
I dont know that much about the intel boards, so any input is appreciated!!
